Welcome to this guided meditation on surrender and its role in our lives as far as managing our stress levels and expectations.
First just a few words on the concept of surrender.
In our culture it is often confused with weakness because of the cultural emphasis on independence and control that many of us have been raised in.
Our society values self-sufficiency and sees asking for help as a sign of failure.
This belief system leads us to believe that surrendering is giving up,
That it means we are unable to handle the situation on our own and therefore must rely on others.
However,
This perspective is overbroad and it overlooks the actual power and strength that comes with surrendering.
It is not a sign of weakness but rather a sign of bravery and maturity.
When we consciously surrender we acknowledge that there may be something greater at play,
Something beyond our control and that it is okay to let go and ask for help.
It's not necessarily asking another human for help.
This act of surrender allows us to tap into the power of the universe and connect with a higher power,
Higher self or our guides.
All of whom can help us and lead us to a place of inner peace and contentment.
Surrendering also allows us to release the constant struggle and stress that comes with trying to control every aspect of our lives.
By consciously letting go for a moment we free ourselves from the burden of constantly trying to make things happen and can instead relax into a state of trust and acceptance.
This trust in the ultimate flow of life in the universe is a form of strength and it allows us to approach our goals and challenges with a sense of calm and confidence.
So just before we begin,
Surrendering is often confused with weakness because of our cultural and society values that emphasize control and self-sufficiency.
However learning the act of surrendering is a sign of bravery,
Maturity and strength.
It allows us to connect with the higher plane,
Universal consciousness,
To release the burden of constant struggle and approach life instead with a sense of peace and contentment.
Find a comfortable place where you can sit or lie down and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to fully relax on a long slow exhale.
Let go of any of your worries,
Stresses or concerns and simply be here in this moment.
Take a very deep inhale and then exhale through your nose three times.
Practicing mindfulness can also help you relax your body and mind.
So just breathe normally and focus on the present moment.
Become aware of your thoughts and sensations without judgment.
Pay attention to the sensations of your breath and allow yourself to let go of any distracting thoughts or worries.
Just rest here floating for a few moments concentrating on your breath.
Imagine that you are standing at the top of a cliff looking out at the vast expanse of the ocean.
You have a goal,
Something that you would like to accomplish and you have been working tirelessly to make it happen.
However,
No matter how much effort you have put in,
It seems that you are unable to reach your goal.
You feel frustrated and defeated as if you are not in control of your own life.
Now imagine that you step back from the edge of the cliff and take a deep breath.
Instead of trying to control the outcome of your goal,
You choose instead to surrender to the idea that it may not be meant to happen right now.
You release your grip on the need to make it happen and you simply let go.
As you let go,
You feel a sense of calm and peace wash over you.
The tightness in your chest begins to ease and you can breathe more deeply and easily.
You are no longer struggling against an impossible task and you are free to simply be.
As you surrender to the universe,
You become open to new possibilities.
Suddenly you see that there are other ways to reach your goal,
Ways that you may never have considered before.
You realize that you are not alone and there are unseen helpers in the universe who are always with you,
Ready to offer support and guidance.
We often forget to call on them and ask for help.
These are our ancestors,
Our pets who have gone over the rainbow bridge,
Our higher selves.
Take a moment to imagine these helpers,
Whether they be guides,
Angels,
Or simply departed friends and family members.
See them standing by your side,
Offering you their love and encouragement.
Allow yourself to feel the warmth of their presence and know that they are always with you,
Helping you to reach your goal and live your life to the fullest.
It's just that we often forget to ask for their help.
The act of surrendering also opens you up to the small miracles that we call grace.
These are the unexpected shifts in circumstances that bring new opportunities and breakthroughs into our lives.
When we surrender,
We create space for these miracles to happen and we allow ourselves to be guided by a higher power.
Now imagine again that you are back standing at the edge of the cliff,
But this time you are filled with a sense of peace and trust.
You know that you are not alone and that help is always available to you.
You are no longer struggling against an impossible task,
But instead you are open to the grace and guidance of the universe.
As you look out over the ocean,
You see a beautiful shining light in the distance.
This light represents your goal of your task at hand or your decision that you have to make.
And it is still within reach,
But you no longer feel the need to control the outcome.
Instead,
You surrender to the idea that it may come in its own time,
In its own way.
You trust that everything is happening as it should and that the universe has a plan for you.
Take a long,
Deep inhale and slow exhale.
Allow yourself to sink deeper into this state of surrender.
As you do,
Imagine that your goal is slowly but surely becoming a reality.
Now you see yourself reaching it with ease and you know that it is because you surrendered and allowed the universe to support you.
Feel the joy and gratitude that comes with this realization.
Allow yourself now to bask in the peace and contentment that comes from letting go of control and surrendering to a higher power.
Know that this is a place of strength,
Not weakness,
And that true success comes from surrendering to the flow of life and the universe.
As you continue to surrender,
Imagine that you are becoming more and more connected to the universe,
To your guides,
And to the small miracles that bring joy and abundance into your life.
See yourself now surrounded by love,
Peace,
And happiness.
Just float here in a moment in love,
Peace,
And happiness.
And now it is time to return to our earthly bodies.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep inhale and long,
Slow exhale and gently turn your head from side to side.
Now gently turn your eyes from side to side.
Breathe normally.
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Take another deep breath and when you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Remember that you can return to this state of surrender at any time simply by closing your eyes and allowing yourself to let go.
Surrendering is a powerful energetic tool for achieving our goals and living a happy,
Fulfilling life.
It is the opposite of control,
Which makes it difficult for many people swept up in the rat race to understand,
But it allows us to connect with the universe,
Receive help from unseen sources,
And experience the small miracles that bring joy and abundance into our lives.
Remember the next time you find yourself struggling against an impossible task,
An impossible decision,
Remember to surrender for a few moments and trust that everything is happening as it should.
Thank you for taking the time to participate in this guided meditation on energetic surrender.
May the practice bring peace and joy and happiness into your life.
Namaste.
