If your mind feels busy or restless right now,
That's a very common nervous system response.
Let's offer yourself a moment to slow down.
Begin by bringing attention to your breath.
Let the inhale arrive naturally.
And allow the exhale to become just a little longer.
Now notice your hands.
You might feel them resting in your lap or touching your legs.
See if you can feel the warmth and weight of your hands.
Now gently bring two fingertips together,
Perhaps your thumb and index finger,
And slowly rub those two fingertips together very gently.
See if you can feel the small ridges of the skin where the fingertips meet,
The tiny textures,
The subtle sensations.
Allow your attention to rest fully in that feeling.
Now you might rub the fingertips of one hand gently across the fingers and palm of your other hand.
Now move slowly,
Noticing the different sensations as your skin moves across the surface of your hand.
Let your attention stay with those sensations for a few moments.
Notice the texture,
The movement,
The contact between your hands.
Now bring your attention to your feet,
Feeling their connection with the floor,
Allowing your awareness to move gently through the body.
Let your breathing continue naturally,
Each exhale softening the body slightly.
Your mind may still be active,
And that's okay.
Right now we're simply reminding your nervous system that it's safe to slow down.
Take one more slow breath and allow the exhale to release any extra tension.
You can return to this practice anytime you need a gentle reset.
Even a few moments of attention in the body can help the mind begin to slow down.
Thank you for joining me today,
And I hope to see you again soon.
