Deep listening.
What am I here for?
The question,
What am I here for,
Or what is my life purpose,
Is one that can be answered on many levels and the answers can certainly change over the course of a lifetime.
As you listen more and more deeply,
You may find the answers you receive change from being about what you do in the world to who you are and the way you move through life.
Guided Meditation.
Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.
Take a slow deep breath and let go of any tension as you feel yourself sinking into the surface you're resting on.
Becoming still,
More comfortable and relaxed.
Take another slow deep breath and release your thoughts,
Letting them drift far away.
And take another slow deep breath and know that in this moment,
All is well.
Bring your awareness into your heart center,
In the center of your chest and notice the softness there.
Imagine all the energy you've sent out into the world lately coming gently back to your heart like the last pieces of a puzzle,
Making you feel more whole and complete.
Follow your breathing in and out as you relax and settle in still more.
Breathing is your connection to life and the natural world.
And like all of nature,
It has a rhythm.
Take a few moments to do nothing more than simply follow the rhythm of your breath and relax.
Imagine you've planned a quiet vacation at a comfy mountain cabin.
Food will be laid in,
You'll have plenty of solitude and your time will be yours to enjoy as you wish.
As your vacation begins,
It's a fine fall afternoon and you find yourself walking through the woods toward your cabin for the first time.
The air is cold and crisp and you can smell the clean scent of pine.
As you walk,
You hear the soft crackle of old leaves beneath your feet.
Stepping through the front door,
You feel the toasty warmth of a wood stove and smell the soup that's been steaming on the stove for you.
So you put down your things,
Take a seat in the old rocker by the window and settle in to watch the fall foliage outside from the comfort of your chair.
Birds are making their daily rounds and the simple setting is at once soothing and engrossing Take a few moments to enjoy being here.
Watch the trees and the birds and follow your breathing.
The sky's been dotted with clouds all day and as the afternoon progresses,
It grows overcast and from your cozy warm vantage point that feels just fine and even makes you feel more relaxed as a deep feeling of peace settles over your cabin.
Take a little while to enjoy this feeling and the stillness here as you follow your breathing and go deeper.
Soon you notice snowflakes falling outside your window.
At first there are just a few floating here and there and then gradually more until there's a steady fall of flakes drifting down,
Tossing on the breeze,
Landing softly on the ground.
Watch the snow falling settle deep into your heart and take some time to consider the following question.
What am I here for?
Sit with this question for some time without trying to analyze or think.
Watch the snow from your cozy cabin and allow any answers to come up from deep within.
You may find that things are very quiet inside or that you get lots of inner commentary or something in between.
Take your time to simply let it be as you ask,
What am I here for?
Listen deeply and receive.
These are very personal answers.
There are no right or wrong answers.
What am I here for?
Simply deeply embedded in your own heart.
Tuning into your breath and taking the time to listen deeply and receive is vital for daily happiness.
It will soon be time to bring this inner journey to a close,
But first take a moment to thank yourself for giving yourself this gift.
Bring your awareness gently back to your physical surroundings.
On the next deep breath,
Inhale and on the exhalation,
Gently begin to wiggle your fingertips,
Becoming aware of new energy and life in your body.
Take your time and when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and feel awake,
Alert and refreshed.
While it's still fresh in your mind,
Take time to write down anything you may have heard,
Felt or learned in this exercise.
Namaste.
