Hello this is a 15 minute meditation and the theme for our sit today is going to be using meditation as the practice for having a present heart.
So the Chinese translation of meditation is being with a present heart and the idea in meditation and action is to slow down the thinking mind and to connect us back to the heart space which sees the world much differently and guides us in much different ways and so our practice today will be to slow down the thinking mind and to reconnect to a present heart.
So go ahead and just get comfortable you can settle in here let the eyes just gently come down to a close as it feels nice to you and let everything relax release into place softening the outer edges of your reality relaxing from the top of your head down through the head space shoulders and heart space belly and the hips just landing yourself in your seat and in this moment that you have carved out for yourself to reconnect with where you are and who you are and you as you are and then letting the breath be the guide into your inner world and out of the outer with every round of breath you feel the softening of yourself physical body the mental body the emotional body and the energy so it is as if you have picked this landing place for you to just take a pause in your day and along the path to be with where you are the best way to do that is to soften the thoughts that stream of consciousness that runs through the mind which is really the one thing that's either carrying us into the past or into the future or somewhere other than here so as we become aware of that stream of consciousness we feel the effortlessness of the breath and the settling the body the allowing of yourself into this moment here which is really the only place you can ever be so as you settle in you can feel the difference between being lost in thought or present at the center of yourself present with your heart and often times there's this tug-of-war that happens between the thinking mind that wants to journey us elsewhere and the heart that knows only presence that knows only how to be here now connected to all things everywhere and so the work then if anything is just to move into the practice of effortlessness where you are not defined by your thoughts where there's nothing to fix or figure out decide or plan for rather the work is just in being available from the very center of your heart out into the world present with the all and every time you choose to lean into your heart space as if you've been reminded not only of your power but of the clearest and most precise way forward that to lead with your heart rather than the mind not to see the world through the eyes of the heart space rather than the eyes of the mind reveals reality in a much more honest and truthful way so we call forward the wisdom the vision and the knowingness of the heart space and in our practice we reconnect to what it means to be present at heart settling the thinking mind volumizing at the very centerpiece of who we are why we're here what we have the power to do which is revealed best through heart center so wherever we are on our path whatever life brings to us wherever we go from here let us be led guided and revealed by the presence of the heart space and eyes that see from heart center our present heart is infinite eyes that see from the heart space and see the whole picture beauty of life itself the power of presence so in the battle between heart and mind let us choose the power of the heart so remaining there for as long as you possibly can and then longer than that let us always lead with the present heart giving yourself three rounds of breath right here to anchor in your new connection to the heart taking all the time you need you can bring gentle movement back into your body to slowly start to reawaken in no rush at all you can gently blink open the eyes I will close here just in saying thank you as always for doing this work
