Welcome to your Wayne and Gibbous loving kindness meditation.
The moon is beginning to disappear into the sky symbolizing a self-reflection and rebirth.
The themes surrounding this phase of the moon are gratitude,
Generosity and enthusiasm.
If you have been working towards a goal or a manifestation throughout this lunar cycle,
You should be feeling the benefits of your hard work of the last two weeks.
This is time to reflect on your goals while also connecting with gratitude and reassessing what you hope to accomplish throughout the rest of the lunar phase.
And so we focus on a theme of generosity,
Specifically loving kindness.
So find a comfortable posture here lying down on a cushion maybe or sitting in a chair.
Close your eyes and connect to the rhythm of your breath.
Imagine you are sitting with someone or something who embodies loving kindness to you.
It could be a spiritual teacher,
A pet or someone completely different.
Bring your attention inwards.
See yourself in your mind's eye.
See yourself sitting with this person or animal that represents loving kindness.
Bring the focus to yourself for now.
Become deeply aware of the person that you are.
Fill your body with your awareness,
Repeating out loud or in your mind as appropriate.
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be well.
Don't rush through the repetitions.
Speak them slowly and deliberately with feeling.
And if you notice other thoughts coming in,
Gently bring your attention back to the words.
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be well.
Maybe you find it difficult to send this love to yourself.
Think of an act of kindness that you've done.
It can be anything,
Something small,
And say the words from this place of goodness.
Or if it helps to think of yourself as a child and wish that child well.
May I be happy.
May I be peaceful.
May I be well.
Bring your focus now to this person who embodies loving kindness.
Perhaps there is someone you are close to with whom you share your life.
Visualize them sitting beside you,
Letting that image become really rich.
And wherever this person or this animal is in real life,
Speak your chosen phrases to them out loud or in your mind as though they are there with you.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
Now allow that person to stand up and walk away.
Next,
Imagine someone that you have neutral feelings about is sitting with you.
It could be someone that you cross paths with at work or your neighborhood,
Someone who works in your local shop.
Anyone at all.
Sit them down beside you,
Turn to them and speak your phrases to them out loud or in your mind.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
When you're finished,
Let that person stand up and walk away.
Come back to your breath.
Now we come to someone that you have a negative feeling about.
Imagine someone that you have an issue with or negative memory about,
Maybe a disagreement,
A longstanding grudge or a difficult relationship.
It could be a colleague,
A sibling,
An ex-partner.
This can be challenging.
If the feelings are too raw or too strong,
Imagine this person as a child.
Again,
Speak as though they are sitting in front of you and you are speaking directly to them,
Repeating the phrases.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be peaceful.
May you be well.
And as that person stands up and walks away,
Come back again to yourself.
You can bring your hands to your heart and belly if it helps you to reconnect with yourself.
We move on to all beings for this final round,
We're sending loving kindness to all living beings,
Speaking to all of life.
You might like to sit now with your hands in an open gesture,
Resting the backs of your hands on your thighs.
Expand your awareness.
Imagine your family and all of their friends and all of your friends and all of your friends' families.
Think about the people you might meet one day and people you will never meet.
Repeating the phrases and sending them out to wherever life exists.
And may we be happy.
May we be peaceful.
May we be well.
May we be happy.
May we be peaceful.
May we be well.
May we be happy.
May we be peaceful.
May we be well.
Spending a moment or two here in quiet meditation,
Focusing on your breath again,
On any sensations you can feel in the body.
Bringing your hands to Anjane Mudra for acquisition.
Take one last deep inhale and exhale.
Open up the eyes.
Namaste.
