This ancient kundalini meditation is a powerful tool for clarity,
Cognitive balance,
And emotional healing,
And one I use with many of my clients.
During this meditation,
We combine sound or chanting with hand gestures or tactile hand movements and the changing of vocal volume.
Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation heavily advocates for this meditation,
And studies show that practicing just 12 minutes a day can improve your memory,
Reduce stress,
And boost your mood.
Before we begin.
Let's find a comfortable seated position.
One that you can be in easily and comfortably for 12 minutes.
Make sure that your spine is straight,
Your shoulders are relaxed,
And your hands are resting on your knees with palms facing up.
Throughout this meditation,
We will be using four primal sounds.
Sa,
Ta,
Na,
Ma.
And as we chant each syllable,
We will also press a corresponding finger to our thumb with a firm pressure.
The hand gestures or tactile practice represents the cycle of creation.
Birth,
Life,
Death,
And rebirth.
On Sa,
Touch your index finger to your thumb.
On top,
Touch your middle finger to your thumb tip.
On na,
The ring finger to your thumb.
And ma,
Pinky finger to thumb tip.
We will cycle through three voices.
First,
Singing out loud.
Next,
A whisper.
And then silently in your mind.
During the four minutes,
You will hear the track go silent as we meditate silently,
Sa,
Ta,
Na,
Ma,
In our mind while making the hand gesture.
Don't worry,
I'm chanting silently with you and keeping track of the time.
After that four silent minutes on the track.
We reverse it,
Moving back to a whisper for two minutes and then finishing out loud together for two minutes.
As you chant,
You may choose to visualize the sound moving between your eyebrows.
So it'll go something like this.
And then it will whisper.
And then silent.
Two minutes out loud,
Two minutes whisper,
Four minutes silent,
Two minutes whisper,
Two minutes out loud for 12 minutes total.
Let's do this together.
Take a deep breath in and let it go.
Another deep breath in through your nose.
And let it go.
Now,
One more breath in and we begin.

Now take a deep inhale.
Hold your breath for a moment.
Slowly exhale,
Feeling the breath leave the body.
Do that again,
Inhale deeply,
Stretch your arms up over your head.
And then exhale,
Bring your arms back down to rest on your lap.
Now sit quietly for a moment.
Feel the stillness.
The vibration.
Feel your energy.
Notice if your mind feels more clear.
Observe if you have created space in your mind.
And thank you for practicing with me today.
Fat and numb.
