This is a five-minute return to rest meditation.
You are safe.
You are warm.
Let's get you back to sleep.
Take a deep breath in and a soft sigh out.
Tapping with a few fingers gently on your chest and repeat after me in your mind.
Even though I am awake,
It is safe to let go.
Even though my mind is busy,
I choose peace right now.
I release the pressure to fall back to sleep.
Now stop tapping and let your hands relax.
Feel the stillness in your body return.
Begin to visualize a warm golden light pouring into your forehead.
Imagine the warm golden light sliding down your face,
Relaxing your eyelids,
The corners of your eyes,
The corners of your mouth,
Softening your jaw.
The warm golden light relaxing your shoulders.
Warm and fluid all the way down your arms into your hands.
Relax.
Saying to yourself,
Just this is enough.
Let the heavy,
Warm,
Golden light move down your neck into your torso,
Down into your legs,
Down into your knees.
Your feet completely relaxed.
Your body is heavy.
Your body is warm,
Liquid.
Affirm to yourself,
Sleep is coming to me easily and effortlessly.
Now imagine that your body is growing heavier and heavier.
Counting back from five to one.
Five,
Leaving the day behind.
Four,
Feeling heavier.
Deeper and deeper in relaxation.
The eyelids are heavy.
Your body sinking into the mattress for three.
Two,
You're almost there,
Drifting.
Three,
You're almost there,
Drifting.
One,
You step into a warm sanctuary of sleep.
You are safe here.
Listen to these words as you drift off.
I will wake feeling rested.
I trust my body to sleep.
Just this is enough.
