Some forms of meditation are all about the method. Others are all about the lineage. Still, others revolve around a particular teacher whose charisma holds the community together. But at their core, all forms of meditation are meant to connect us with the deepest aspects of ourselves—so that we can expand our human experience by being more fully present and living with a greater sense of peace and connectivity.

Take a nice couple deep breaths in your own rhythm please.

Adjust your posture to be comfortable if you haven't already.

And with those deep breaths,

Let your day go.

Just let your to-do list fade off,

Calendar disappear,

Monkey mind shift to the back burner.

And come with me today on a journey to liquid gratitude.

You might say liquid gratitude,

What is that?

Unusual juxtaposition of two words.

We tend to think of gratitude with our minds,

A thought,

An idea.

And that's fine.

It's a fine idea,

An important concept.

But we don't always feel gratitude in our bodies or our emotion.

So I'd like to ask you to try something.

Just imagine the gratitude was like liquid sunshine.

Sunshine somehow transforms from raised sun-shitting particles and shining,

Giving us light into something liquid,

Something just beyond comprehension.

And now I want you to imagine that every cell in your body is like a cup,

A receptacle.

And starting right at your toes,

Your feet and your ankles,

Each cell starts to fill up with the liquid sunshine of gratitude.

Gratitude as a substance.

Just start pouring that liquid sunshine into your cellular structure,

Your feet,

Your lower legs,

Your knees,

Your thighs,

The middle of your body,

Your torso.

And all the way through your organs,

Bones,

Cells,

All the way up to your chest,

Your heart,

Your heart center,

Your throat.

Your head,

Your third eye,

The top of your crown.

And as the liquid sunshine fills in,

Perhaps a wave after a wave of it,

You start glowing.

You can't help it.

It's liquid sunshine.

Every cell in your body is filling up and just glowing and maybe even now pulsing in that glow.

Gratitude is a concept beyond words,

Beyond just thoughts.

In fact,

It may even be a substance in the ethereal realm,

A textured kinesthetic something.

Just imagine now that your body is full of more gratitude than perhaps you've ever felt before.

Let it shine forth.

And if there are thoughts connected to that,

That's fine.

Gratitude to be alive,

Gratitude to have loved ones,

Gratitude for the small things and the large things.

It's okay to have those thoughts but anchor them in your body now.

Just take a moment and glow with liquid gratitude.

And perhaps it's molten,

Shifting from one cell to the next to one part of your body at the next.

Perhaps it's leaking out of your eyes,

Your ears,

Your orifices.

Perhaps there's so much gratitude,

You can't help but share it.

Not just contain it,

But express it.

And now imagine this liquid sunshine spreading out from your hands,

Your face,

Your eyes,

To everyone and anyone around you.

Your circle of friends,

Your family,

Your colleagues,

A neighbor on the street,

Someone in a grocery store,

Just spreading,

Can't help itself.

It's dynamic,

It's moving,

It's shifting.

It's a benevolent infection for those that can feel it.

And they start to light up with liquid sunshine.

And gratitude becomes a habit,

A good habit,

And a way of life,

And a lifestyle,

And a choice.

And as you're doing that,

See how your body transforms a little more upright,

A little more settled,

A little more grounded,

Because now you turn your attention to the planet itself and you pour your gratitude into the earth.

You're a small patch of it,

A tree,

A park,

An animal,

An ocean,

A mountain,

Whatever you want,

Just pour it forth and feel the gratitude now that the earth itself pours back to you.

A two-way street,

Liquid gratitude perhaps,

The circulatory system of love itself,

To a city in a vast network of all the beings and all the creatures feeling,

Absorbing,

And sharing gratitude like liquid sunshine.

Can you imagine living like this all the time?

Every moment.

Wouldn't that be extraordinary?

And when you're ready,

Give thanks,

Come back into the room,

And have a wonderful day.
