Welcome to today's practice.
My name is Victoria and I'll be guiding you through today's meditation.
In our practice we'll be using our five senses,
Our sight,
Sound,
Smell,
Taste and touch to really connect to the present moment.
I invite you to be open to the experience ahead.
As we get started make yourself comfortable.
Sit in a chair or on the floor.
Lengthen your spine.
Relax your shoulders.
Unclench the jaw and keep your eyes open.
Enjoy a deep breath in through the nose and a slow breath out through the nose.
Breathe in to feel your belly rise and breathe out to feel your belly fall.
Start to gently gaze at the space around you.
Noticing the colours,
Shapes,
Objects that you see.
Noticing your eyes,
Notice all the beauty there is to see around you.
Closing your eyes now.
Start to notice any sounds you hear around you near or far.
Listen without analysis or judgement.
Notice simply what you hear right now in this moment.
Tuning in now to your sense of smell.
Notice what you smell in this moment.
Now ask yourself what does this present moment taste like?
Simply using your sense of taste.
Whether you taste something strong or not sure what you taste,
That's okay.
And last but not least,
Tuning in to your sense of touch.
Notice what you feel.
How do your clothes feel on the surface of your skin?
How does the air feel?
Is it warm?
Is it cool?
How does the floor feel underneath you?
How do your props feel underneath you?
Now start to reflect on this practice as a whole.
What was your experience of using one sense at a time?
Maybe it was enjoyable,
Maybe it was challenging.
Maybe one sense was easier to tune into than another.
Simply noticing your experience without judgement.
Enjoy one more deep breath in and a full slow breath out.
Simply bringing your awareness back to your physical body.
Wiggling your fingers and toes.
When you feel ready,
Gently open the eyes.
Speaking in this moment to thank yourself for showing up and practicing today.
