Welcome to this session of Bhajan's devotional mantra chanting,

Singing as a practice of bhakti yoga,

The yoga of devotion,

The yoga of love.

And in this practice we will offer our hearts,

Our voices,

Our entire being to the divine through singing mantras in Sanskrit to the different aspects of the one divine supreme reality.

So let's prepare by coming to a comfortable sitting position with the spine straight,

Yet relaxed,

And closing the eyes,

Bringing all the awareness to the heart,

To the center of the chest,

To anahata chakra,

The heart center,

And taking a few deep breaths in and out of the heart,

And beginning to feel perhaps some tingling sensations in this area,

An awakening of the heart as we breathe in and out of the heart and bring awareness here.

And as we go through this practice again and again,

Bring your awareness back to the heart,

Sing from the heart,

And don't hold back,

Allow yourself really to share your joy,

Your love,

Your devotion.

We're starting with a bhajan for Ganesha.

Ganesha is the elephant head god who removes obstacles,

And we invoke Ganesha in the beginning,

As he is the one who brings auspiciousness to beginnings.

So let's prepare to offer this mantra to Ganesha and pray to Ganesha to be your friend in this life,

To be your companion,

And to guide you and support you and offer his blessings.

Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Om Ganesha Shree Ganesha Jai Ganesha Om Taking a deep breath into the heart.

Keeping your eyes closed and your awareness in the center of the chest.

And meditating for a few moments,

Feeling the fruits of this practice of devotion.

Continuing your offering to Ganesha from your heart.

Feeling this divine communion.

And let's prepare now to sing a bhajan for Shiva.

Shiva is the divine consciousness present in all things.

The pure awareness in us and in everything.

So we sing this mantra for Shiva in gratitude for this divine consciousness that permeates everything.

So once again bringing your attention to the middle of the chest,

To Anahata Chakra,

The heart center.

Closing your eyes and offering your voice,

Your heart,

Your entire being to the divine,

To Shiva.

Enjoying the fruits of this devotion,

Keeping your awareness in the heart.

And another poem.

God came to my house and asked for charity,

And I fell on my knees and cried,

Beloved,

What may I give?

Just love,

He said,

Just love.

This is a poem by Saint Francis of Assisi.

And just enjoying a few moments more of silence,

Resting in the heart.

Let's prepare now to sing for Kali.

Kali is the cosmic power,

The divine goddess of time and evolution.

And she can appear very fierce in the way she looks,

But she is a mother that wants the best for us.

So let us sing for Kali and offer all of our love,

Our devotion to this divine power,

And ask for her blessings and offer her our blessings.

Everything.

Her lotus feet are the end of every pilgrimage.

When I meditate upon her I float like a lily on an ocean of bliss.

I think of fire consuming fuel.

That is Kali.

Devotion to her is the root of all happiness.

Salvation is her companion.

Think hard upon the wild-haired goddess and all becomes clear.

How I love that dark beauty seducing the world with her black hair.

How I love her.

How I love my black darling who lives in the heart of the world in the heart of our hearts in the heart of the gods.

How I love her.

Because she is black,

I love black.

Because she dances,

I love dancing.

Because she is beautiful and black with dancing hair I cannot help myself.

I adore her.

A poem by Ramaprasad.

And just a few more moments meditating on the heart feeling all the different energies of this practice moving through you feeling the sweetness of your heart the sweet feeling of the openness of the heart and gratitude for this practice and just meditating here this is bhakti yoga and we've come to the last bhajan of this session om namo narayanaya this is a mantra in admiration of the divine expressing the devotion to godliness so let's prepare keep your awareness in the heart closing your eyes and really giving everything that you can in this moment to the divine opening up your heart releasing any resistance that still might be here and just allowing yourself to be in love and to go into this state of offering and sharing your love and your joy and celebrating this extraordinary life that we get to live here om namo narayanaya taking a deep breath into the heart and resting here in the center of the being remain with your eyes closed and meditate upon the words of this poem by Saint Augustine Late have I loved you O beauty ever ancient,

Ever new Late have I loved you You were within me,

But I was outside And it was there that I searched for you In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created You were with me,

But I was not with you Created things kept me from you Yet if they had not been in you,

They would not have been at all You called,

You shouted,

And you broke through my deafness You flashed,

You shone,

And you dispelled my blindness You breathed your fragrance on me I drew in breath,

And now I pant for you I have tasted you,

Now I hunger and thirst for more You touched me,

And I burned for your peace This is bhakti,

Divine longing,

Devotion And as we conclude this bhajan session let us open to gratitude and offer back all the fruits and all the blessings that you may have received through this practice offer it right back to the source to the supreme being and let's offer gratitude for this beautiful divine life and all the teachings and practices that lead us back home to the truth and gratitude for the opportunity to practice some devotion and for all the insights and blessings received and all the blessings that we receive in every moment that we often take for granted or we don't notice because we're too distracted and let this practice be a reminder to us to pay attention and to not allow ourselves to be taken by the dramas and confusion and the turmoil of this life but to always be able to come back to what's real and what's true and to open our hearts again and again and again to remain soft and open to life and all the beauty of life and with this we conclude this bhakti yoga practice I wish you many blessings on your path ahead and much divine inspiration Namaste
