Freedom.
The innermost desire of every soul.
Freedom and sovereignty.
With each soul's birthright.
But yet,
Many live in bondage.
We think we are free.
What if there is suffering?
It means fear and bondage.
This bondage is what makes us feel limited.
Small.
Constricted.
Unhappy.
We usually assume that bondage comes from outside.
Something external,
Circumstances,
Relationships,
Limitations from the world.
But in reality,
The greatest bondage.
The root of all suffering.
The most pervasive.
Is the bondage of the mind.
For most of us,
Our mind is constantly chattering.
Never quiet,
Jumping from one thing to another.
Always hijacked by thoughts.
When was the last time your mind was truly quiet?
Resting in being.
We have given away our sovereignty to the endless stream of thoughts,
Worries.
Desires,
Judgments.
And stories.
We mistake these fleeting mental constructs for reality.
All aching that we feel in the deepest part of ourselves.
All sense of incompleteness.
All suffering.
Hola.
Comes from this bondage.
We become bounded by our thoughts.
We are imprisoned by our own narratives.
We create this little world of thoughts in our head and we live in that.
And reconsider that world to be true.
Just like the frog in the well.
The frog in the well thinks that the well is the world.
It has no idea about the ocean.
Likewise,
We think that the thoughts that we are ruminating in is the world.
And we are trapped in it.
We don't even realize that we are trapped in that well.
And there is this vast spacious ocean.
Which we know nothing about.
Bondage is being in that well and freedom is swimming in that ocean.
When we become bounded by our thoughts.
We give away that power.
We let go of our sovereignty.
We drop our kingship.
And become slaves to the mind.
So to reclaim our sovereignty is to return to the self,
To return to the heart.
It is true.
Discontinue.
Investing my energy in the endless chatter.
But rather.
.
.
Directing the attention.
Towards the self.
Towards who I truly am.
We are not the thoughts.
Realize this.
They are not ours.
So experiment with this.
Right now.
Make sure you're comfortably seated.
And simply pay attention.
Be alert,
Be vigilant,
Pay attention.
And wait.
For the next thought that arise.
Simply wait.
Don't think,
But wait and see.
Wait and see.
Be attentive.
And wait for the next thought to come.
Whatever thought arises,
Simply notice and then wait for the next thought.
Be vigilant.
Re-alert As soon as you notice that you may have lost your alertness,
Become alert again.
And notice the thought that arises.
And then wait for the next start.
Wait and see.
This witnessing presence is untouched by what it observes.
It's untouched by thoughts.
If you are not alert,
If you are not vigilant,
Then these thoughts will hijack.
And they will be suffering.
Now as you're observing,
Simply turn your attention deeper.
And the one who's observing.
Turn your attention on the one who is observing.
When you turn your attention away from thoughts and towards the self,
Towards the one who's observing.
That is reclaiming our sovereignty.
Nothing external can stop us from experiencing this sovereignty.
It is always our choice.
It always has been.
