Years ago, I wrote this song to accompany a Sunday talk about one of the Four Agreements from the Toltec wisdom tradition: Don’t make assumptions. It is resonating particularly strongly these days for me. I can make really quick assumptions about I am and who other people are, but I know that the reality is that each one of us is still emerging, moment by moment, our true being continually revealing itself …. even to ourselves. So I am reminding myself, again and again, to listen more than I talk. To drop the pictures that I make about myself and about you, to humble myself and to face the mystery and the miracle of Being.
