Hello and welcome to For the Moment Tricycle Short Audio Practices.
Kimberly Brown is a long-time Buddhist student and meditation teacher.
Today she will guide us through a short practice to help us come to peace with what we can't change and ground our actions in what we do have control over.
So this is a meditation to help you ground your actions in what you can control.
To keep your mind steady and your heart open.
And find a quiet place somewhere where you can just sit still and be undisturbed for a few minutes.
You could lay down if you'd like and turn off your devices.
I know you were probably listening on a device so you can't turn it off but set it aside.
Don't look at it.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Just notice that you're breathing.
Noticing the light entering your eyes,
Sound entering your ears,
Your feet,
Your seat,
Your shoulder blades.
I'd like you to put your hand on your belly and just rest it there.
Paying attention to each inhale as your belly inflates and each exhale as it contracts just a little.
You can feel this on your hand.
Quietly feeling your breath here just for a minute.
And I'd like you to call to your mind,
To your heart,
Someone that you know who's struggling right now.
This could be someone in your close circle.
It could be someone you know about that's having a struggle or someone in the news.
And put your hand on your heart and say these sentences silently to them.
May you be undisturbed by what you can't change.
May you act with wisdom and kindness for yourself and others.
May you be undisturbed by what you can't change.
May you act with wisdom and kindness for yourself and others.
May you be undisturbed by what you what you can't change.
May you act with wisdom and kindness for yourself and others.
And taking just a minute or so to continue silently saying this phrase like you're giving a gift to this struggling person.
May you be undisturbed by what you can't change.
May you act with wisdom and kindness for yourself and others.
You can let go of this connection with this struggling being.
Noticing that you're breathing and now making a connection with you.
You could imagine you're looking in the mirror or just have a sense of your presence here and give yourself the same wisdom.
May I be undisturbed by what I can't change.
May I act with wisdom and kindness for myself and others.
May I be undisturbed by what I can't change.
May I be undisturbed by what I can't change.
May I act with wisdom and kindness for myself and others.
And once again just taking a minute or so silently giving yourself this wisdom.
May I be undisturbed by what I can't change.
May I act with wisdom and kindness for myself and others.
You can keep the connection with yourself and start to include everyone that you're close to.
May we be undisturbed by what we can't change.
May we act with wisdom and kindness for each other and all beings.
And start to include everyone.
People you don't like.
Total strangers.
All the animals on the planet.
All living beings.
May we be undisturbed by what we can't change.
May we act with wisdom and kindness for each other and all beings.
Before you conclude this meditation remember that you can practice this anytime.
And be sure to thank yourself for your good sense and your good heart.
