Hi and welcome.
My name is Jacqueline for those of you that have not met me before and for those of you that have,
Welcome back.
Are you a worrier?
I know that I used to be.
I used to worry about everything and anything.
It was quite exhausting to be honest with you.
Sometimes we worry about what's going to happen tomorrow.
Sometimes we worry about what the weather's going to be like in two weeks time when we have a special function to go to.
Sometimes we worry about how we're going to feel next year.
But when we worry,
It's normally about things that are in our future rather than what's going on in this particular moment now.
So why do we waste time worrying between now and then?
Why don't we just enjoy what's going on now?
Why do we worry about things that we have no control over?
Why don't we just stay in control of our thoughts and feelings in this moment?
The way that I overcame this worrying is to first of all recognize that I was worrying about things that was out of my control for a moment or for,
You know,
Something that was going to happen in a year's time or whatever.
I recognized that and thought to myself,
Why are you doing this?
Why are you wasting precious time in the here and now by doing that?
And I decided to shrink time.
So what I mean by that is instead of worrying about what the weather's going to be like next week when I go to the function,
Why don't I just look at the weather that's going on in the moment now so that if it's raining now I find something else to do?
Or if the sun's shining then I make sure I get outside and take in that fresh air.
By worrying about what's going on now we tend not to worry.
That doesn't really make a lot of sense,
Does it?
But it really does if you think about it.
We only really worry about things that either haven't happened or things that have happened and both of those things we have no control over.
So when we think about this moment in time the only thing that's important is what we're doing now.
So by focusing on this moment in time,
By enjoying what we are doing or finding a way to get through a difficult moment,
That's what we have control over and that's when we find that we don't worry.
So how do we get over if we're having a difficult time in this moment?
I hear you say,
Well the easiest thing for me is to breathe.
Concentrate on my breath.
One breath at a time.
And all the time we're breathing we're living and we're not worrying.
So enjoy every moment that's happening now,
Even if it's a moment of complication for you.
And like I say,
If it's a moment of complication,
A moment when something feels a little negative,
Then just breathe.
So if you find yourself worrying about something out in your future or even worrying about something from your past,
Just bring yourself back to this moment in time and breathe.
Take in a big,
Full,
Steady breath.
Breathe on purpose and follow that breath as it leaves your body.
So allow yourself to breathe in,
Follow that breath in.
Allow yourself to hold it for a couple of seconds at the top.
And then as you release it,
Give thanks for your life.
Give thanks for this moment in time.
This moment in time is precious.
No matter what's going on in the world around you,
No matter what's going on in your life around you,
Your breath is important.
So how do we quit worrying?
We concentrate on our breath and we enjoy this moment of life.
