Welcome everyone to this meditation,
Which is a meditation to simply be still,
To take a pause,
Pause that you can take really at any time during your day,
To come back to the simplicity of what's right here without trying to do anything.
This practice is really learning the art of not doing,
Non-doing,
Which is in some ways the essence of meditation,
A fundamental shift into the stillness,
Which is right here.
So we can begin by gently arriving here and if it feels comfortable closing your eyes,
You can begin with your posture,
Checking to see how your body is aligned,
Checking up through your spine,
Through the top of your head,
Feeling the line that forms there,
Feeling the lightness of your head as it gently rests in space and feeling down your shoulders,
The clear space there,
Feel down through the open space in your chest,
Through which the breath passes,
The space down into your abdomen where you feel that gentle movement with each breath and down through your hips,
The open space there,
Space down through your legs,
Reaching all the way to the floor.
Now simply relaxing into this moment without trying to do anything or make anything happen,
Can you simply pause,
Pause and feel what is found within the pause,
That there is a space,
A space that we did not create,
Open,
Non-judgmental,
Into the gaps of stillness falls,
Stillness of doing nothing without a need for words or ideas,
Without concern for what comes next or what it means,
Without concern for whether it will last or not,
Just the space that simply opens to us when we pause in this moment and let all things gently rest,
The stillness might come and go,
It's here for a moment and then slips away but it remains hidden inside each moment,
Even if it feels eclipsed,
It's still there,
Quietly abiding and then within the smallest gap the stillness shines.
What becomes of us in the stillness?
All of us is here but without conflict or dispute,
The stillness at the center,
The still point around which all things are balanced,
In which all things are aligned,
Simply still,
Simply still.
Ever still.
Balanced,
True,
Simple,
Non-harming,
Peace,
Still.
The in-breath,
The out-breath,
The in-breath,
The out-breath,
And now leaving off,
Coming back,
Arriving back,
Being here,
Opening your eyes,
Welcoming the rest of this day,
Taking some of this stillness with you.
Thank you for joining and until next time,
Be well.
