The truth you seek — wholeness, love, and completion — is already here, breathing through you. We simply forget it when we get lost in the noise of the mind. This session invites you to drop out of your thoughts and into the truth of the present moment, showing you that all suffering is an innocent response to the life happening in your mind, not to reality itself.

And you know what this points to?

And it might be difficult to see depending on how deeply you've seen life behind the mind.

But what you start to see is that all of life,

Real life,

Is sacred.

The whole damn thing.

And it's so wild even to just see that and then to somehow go about your life and completely forget that.

And if you've had that experience you'll understand when I say that it's so wild.

How could something so profoundly beautiful be so quickly forgotten?

How could something so transformative be so quickly forgotten?

How could something so all-encompassing seem to vanish right in the next moment?

But you see that's the thing.

It doesn't really vanish.

Do you see that?

If anything,

Sure,

We can say it's forgotten.

But do you see that it doesn't really vanish?

Like,

For example,

As you've been hanging out with me for these brief moments maybe you've recognized a deeper peace that starts to emerge?

A deeper presence?

And you start to discern the difference between life and the mind and in your recognition of life you touch upon some quality of sacredness.

Do you see that that sacredness is actually always there?

You've just allowed yourself to be still enough to see it.

I find this fascinating because it shows us that it's not something that we create.

It's not something that we make happen.

It's not something we call into existence.

It's something that's always there.

And even if you find yourself with a bit of difficulty where you're still like,

I don't know what you're talking about.

Well,

If that's the case,

Can you notice how much you're lost in the mind?

And what I mean by lost in the mind is you're thinking about so much.

It reminds me of someone who is watching the sunrise.

And there is this backdrop of brilliant colors.

And yet as you're watching it,

You don't even see it.

As you're thinking about last week's argument with a friend,

As you're worried about what's going to happen tomorrow,

You're in the mind.

And again,

Depending on who's listening,

I really have no awareness of to what degree you've seen it.

For some,

They hear what I'm talking about and to them it feels like they know exactly what I'm talking about.

And to another person,

They think I'm crazy.

But I guess if anything,

If anything at all,

I'm inviting you to see the vast contrast between life and the mind.

To just start by acknowledging that.

To see that all of your human angst,

All of your emotional disturbances,

All of the love you withhold from yourself,

From others in the world,

Is all in response to the life that's happening in your mind.

And none of it has anything to do with reality.

With what's actually here right now.

Which of course is why the spiritual invitation is what it is.

To come back to reality and see that there's no appropriate reason for withholding love.

Which in a playful way really speaks to what we are fighting for in our suffering.

And by suffering,

I mean any degree of emotional disturbance.

Anything you're pissed off about.

Any resentments you have.

Can you see that in a way we are fighting for something?

Furthermore,

As much as it might look like you're fighting for something in the world,

Can you see that you're fighting for something in the mind?

Maybe you can,

Maybe you can't.

Either way,

It's fascinating.

And what's funny for me,

I don't know how to say this without sounding a little bit arrogant.

I know that you already know this.

Even if you don't know that you know this.

Which is also like saying,

I know that this is what you want most.

Even if you don't know that it's what you want most.

Which is also interesting to explore.

How it is that all of us as human beings are really in search of the sacred.

Even though most of us don't even realize it.

And how wild is that,

That the thing we are in search of most,

If not the only thing we're actually in search of,

Is breathing through you right now.

Isn't that wild?

It's kind of like going out for a morning run in search of your own legs.

The idea or the thought that it might be missing is the only thing that fills you with anxiety.

Is the only thing that effectively makes you act crazy sometimes.

Is the idea that this something that you're searching for,

Which we might call the sacred,

Might be missing.

One of the ways that this becomes obvious to see is in the examination of what we really want in this life.

Because just as I might call it the sacred,

We could call it something else.

We could call it wholeness.

We could call it love.

We could call it a feeling of completion.

Do you see this?

There's all these different names that we could call it,

But effectively it's the same thing.

It's almost like speaking a different language,

But you're talking about the same thing.

And it's amazingly beautiful that every human being wants the same thing.

But we might be telling different stories about it.

We might be confused about where it's at.

We might think it's in the future.

We might think it's lost in the past.

But in reality,

It's breathing through you.

Which is to say,

The thing you want most in this life,

You have it.

And then of course,

The fun part about this is we can say,

Okay,

I hear you,

But if I already have it,

Then why can't I feel it?

And the answer to that is because you don't see that you have it.

Feeling it happens because you know that it's true.

You see it.

And I guess it could be said that it's not necessarily something that you see with your eyes.

In the same way that you can't see it with the mind.

Which makes this for a very interesting inquiry.

Don't you agree?

Like it's not about what you see with your eyes.

It's not about what goes on in your mind.

Then what is it about?

Because that's most of life for human beings.

What I see with my eyes and what I think in my mind.

And it's not even what you feel.

It's so interesting that something can be known so deeply that you don't even know it.

You cannot see with your eyes.

You cannot see with your mind.

And whatever feeling you have about it is somewhat irrelevant.

Which of course,

Again,

Is the invitation of spiritual practice in a way to develop a sensitivity that isn't reliant on what your eyes see or your mind thinks about or what you feel in your body.

There is some sort of more primary instrument within you that is deeply connected to the heart of life.

And you know,

Again,

We can make up all sorts of words for it.

Which might just give us more things to think about.

But could also be helpful.

But the doorway in all of that begins at the discernment between life and the mind.

Which requires one to be still and see the difference.

You know,

It's kind of like the more you start to see clearly that what you want most isn't out there in the world.

Because maybe you've exhausted yourself and you've seen firsthand.

There's something so much more sincere that you're craving,

That you're longing for.

There's a greater willingness to give up that search in the world.

Do you see this,

How you've relaxed a little bit more?

And in that relaxation,

You are much more available and sensitive to see that it might be here in this moment.

But likewise,

The more convinced you are that you want something in the world,

Then the less available you are right now.

And that's fine.

Because as you continue to run around in the world,

You'll see that what you're looking for isn't out there.
