Welcome to this meditation.
This meditation is intended to cultivate a sense of self-compassion and self-love.
Let's get started.
Take a comfortable seat.
Lengthen your spine and take a deep breath in.
Slowly exhale.
Allow your gaze to soften or close down your eyes.
Perhaps place your hands on your heart,
Bringing your awareness here to your heart as you continue to connect with your breath.
Deep breath in,
Breath out.
As you breathe,
Allow your body to let go.
Feel yourself begin to relax.
As you bring your awareness to your heart,
Take a deep breath in through the back of your heart and exhale through the front of your heart.
Again,
Breathe in through the back of your heart and exhale through the front.
If your mind begins to wander,
Just gently bring it back to your heart.
Continue to breathe,
Allowing your shoulders to release.
Release any tension in your jaw.
Let go of any holding on in your belly.
Allow your body to feel completely relaxed.
In your mind's eye,
Imagine yourself as a child.
See your young self,
Perhaps in your childhood bedroom or a space where you used to play.
Notice how old you are and what you're doing.
Notice the surroundings around this child self.
What do you see?
Notice how your child self is feeling.
Begin to imagine extending your heart to them.
Know their heart.
Imagine entering the space where your child self is playing.
They look up to see you.
Imagine sitting next to them.
They look into your eyes and you see the emotion in their eyes.
You know their heart.
You feel a deep sense of compassion for them.
Take a moment to tell them what you need them to know about themselves.
The truth about who they are.
How lovable.
Feel your heart extending love to this child version of you.
Perhaps even imagining wrapping them in a big hug.
Melt into you.
Absorbing your love.
Allow yourself to feel a deep sense of compassion and love for this young self.
Allow this love and compassion to expand.
Wrapping you both in a loving energy.
Allow it to extend out throughout the whole entire room that you're in.
Feel this love in your heart.
Now imagine extending this same love,
This same compassion,
To your adult self.
To your current self.
Wrapping your adult self in love and compassion.
Extending your heart.
Breathe that in.
Set an intention for bringing this love and self-compassion with you into the rest of your day.
Gently bring yourself back to awareness of the space that you're in.
Feel your surroundings.
Slowly blink open your eyes when you're ready.
