The moment we enter this world,

We are given a set of rules that tell us how to be us.

Our parents will tell us how to feel,

Our siblings will tell us what we should do,

And when we leave the confines of our homes,

The world comes in and tells us how to speak and how to act.

And how are we to really know what's right?

We've only just gotten here.

We're learning the ways of this body,

What it means to be human,

What it means to be alive.

So maybe we quiet those different parts of ourselves that seem to be a bother,

Or maybe they're too different for comfort.

Maybe we push one thing down and then another,

Until years have gone by and you meet somebody new and they ask you,

Tell me about yourself,

Tell me about you.

And maybe then you realize that you aren't quite sure who it is you are,

Or what it is you really feel,

Or what you even like to do.

Because some parts of you have been molded by the outside world before you even knew it was happening.

And here you are,

With a little bit of everybody else inside of you.

We deserve to know what our hearts are truly longing for.

We deserve to be so fully ourselves that the honesty of our spirit wakes up the world around it with its tune.

You have permission to take off the clothing that others have dressed you in.

You have permission to write your own story.

So how do we do that?

How do we find a self that is so buried deep under layers and layers of conditioning?

It comes as a feeling,

You have to watch for it.

It comes as a feeling,

Like something lighthearted,

Or joyous,

Or exciting.

It'll feel like resonance in your bones.

It'll feel like a longing,

Or a sigh of relief.

It'll feel like a lot of different things,

But they're not really different at all.

Who you are in the core of your most honest to God spirit feels good.

That is your nature,

Goodness.

The work is in noticing when things don't feel good,

And no longer giving them permission to take up space in your life.

It is in noticing where there is resistance,

And being creative and courageous enough to invite in ease and step.

It is in honoring your unique desires and resonance by seeking out the things that fill your cup.

We meet the long lost self through repeatedly feeling the dis-ease and asking it,

What do you need to feel better in doing that?

The best of our ability.

We are love in its purest,

Truest form.

And every time we give ourselves what we need,

Every time we nurture what is hurting,

Every time we choose a better feeling thing,

We learn more about us.

We begin to meet who we really are.
