A gentle meditation reading Psalm 92 from Nan Merrill's Psalms for Praying. Before beginning, there is time to settle and come to stillness, then, the Psalm is read through three times. There is an opportunity to welcome the words or phrases that stand out to you to be received deeply and offer their gift. This version of the Psalms is not a direct translation but is kind, gentle, and intimate.

Welcome friends to this Lectio Divina on Psalm 92,

Complete with birdsong as I have the door and windows open.

Arriving into this place and moment,

Giving yourself some time to settle in and get comfortable.

Letting yourself soften and release and settle.

Letting go of anything that can be let go of.

Opening yourself to be met by love,

By the beloved.

Welcoming the kind and tender embrace and noticing how you arrive into this moment.

Acknowledging what's present for you emotionally,

In your body,

In your spirit.

Do you come with a need,

A desire?

You are welcome here just as you are.

I'm going to read the whole psalm three times.

On this first reading simply let the words come as a gentle rain falling over and through you.

Psalm 92.

It is good to give thanks to you O beloved,

To sing praises to your holy name.

To affirm your gracious love in the morning and your faithfulness through the night.

To the music of the spheres,

To the melody of the universe.

For you heart of my heart,

Gladden my soul.

As I proclaim with joy the harmony and beauty of creation.

How wondrous is your divine plan O beloved.

Your design brought forth by love.

The ignorant cannot perceive those who still sleep cannot understand.

Though darkness covers much of the land and violence seems to flourish.

Love gives birth to dazzling light and like a laser it shines through to all that is hidden.

Yet low,

All those who separate themselves from love will be undone by fear.

You delight in my spirit and elevate my soul.

You bathe me in the oil of kindness.

My eyes behold the radiance of creation's glory.

My ears echo with love's refrain.

Those who live with integrity are like a garden in full bloom whose blossoms beautify the earth.

They're planted in the dwelling place of love.

Their produce nourishes all those who pass by.

All through their lives they reap bountiful harvests overflowing as a cornucopia of the finest fruits magnifying the blessed gardener living as sons and daughters of the most high.

On this second reading notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.

It is good to give thanks to you.

Oh beloved to sing praises to your holy name.

To affirm your gracious love in the morning and your faithfulness through the night.

To the music of the spheres,

To the melody of the universe.

For you,

Heart of my heart,

Gladden my soul as I proclaim with joy the harmony and beauty of creation.

How wondrous is your divine plan,

Oh beloved.

Your design brought forth by love.

The ignorant cannot perceive.

Those who still sleep cannot understand.

Though darkness covers much of the land and violence seems to flourish.

All through their lives they reap bountiful harvests.

Overflowing as a cornucopia of the finest fruits.

Magnifying the blessed gardener living as sons and daughters of the Most High.

On this third and final reading let those words and phrases unfurl within you.

Let them begin to give the depths of their gift.

How do you want to respond to them?

How do they make you feel emotionally?

What happens in your body as you welcome them?

Receive the gift that they're bringing to you at this time.

Your design brought forth by love.

The ignorant cannot perceive,

Those who still sleep cannot understand.

Though darkness covers much of the land and violence seems to flourish.

Love gives birth to dazzling light and like a laser it shines through to all that is hidden.

Yet lo,

All those who separate themselves from love will be undone by fear.

You delight in my spirit and elevate my soul.

You bathe me in the oil of kindness.

My eyes behold the radiance of creation's glory.

My ears echo with love's refrain.

Magnifying the blessed gardener,

Living as sons and daughters of the most high.

With all blessing and grace and goodness to you.

Amen.
