For those familiar with The Enneagram, this meditation centers around the gut triad - numbers 1, 9 and 8. From a place of being rather than doing, it will invite you to connect with your body and in particular your gut. As well as giving you space to notice what's present at this time, it also explores anger and control asking questions for your reflection.

Transcript

Welcome to this Enneagram meditation Centering ourselves in the gut triad Gently arrive and settle into your space Finding a comfortable position Notice any sounds that you can hear outside or in the room Slowly begin to gather yourself into this space Letting your attention come from the exterior sounds to your interior Notice the position of your body Notice where you may be holding tension or gripping and release Let yourself sink Let your shoulders drop and your body be heavy Allow your face to soften And your tongue fall away from the roof of the mouth Have a sense of being supported and held If your feet are on the floor Notice how they connect toes and soles and heels to that floor Know yourself to be rooted and grounded Now place your hand on your belly and breathe deeply into your hand Feeling the rise and fall of air beneath Bring your attention to the connection between your hand and your belly Connect with the energy of your belly or your gut Begin to offer your loving presence to this part of your body Continue to notice the rise and fall of your belly as you breathe As you stay attentive to your gut,

To your belly As you offer your loving presence here,

What do you notice?

Does anything arrive as you are attentive?

You may notice sensation,

Image,

Memory,

Thought Be aware of what arrives See if it's possible to simply be present rather than needing to do anything Allow space for whatever wants to arise in this moment to arise When your mind wanders,

Return to the rise and fall of your belly Bringing your attention back to this part of you We're now going to give some space and loving attention to any places of anger that you have been carrying within If it feels safe for you,

Welcome anger to rise to the surface Those places of frustration that may have been pushed down and covered over This is a safe space for you to acknowledge any anger that's been present To let that anger be seen and known and responded to with love The beloved is here with you and offers their presence to any anger that you're experiencing If it's okay,

Stay present to this anger and see if you can walk through it,

Allowing it to have space You are allowed to experience anger,

It's a valid emotion Now turning towards any places within that are gripping tightly and wanting to be in control What would it be like to soften,

To open and to release your need for control?

What's needed in order for you to do this?

How can divine love assist you here?

Finally,

Continuing to bring your presence to your belly,

Returning to that part of you when your mind wanders Experience the word powerlessness,

Notice how your belly responds to that word Notice any emotion that arrives,

Any sensations What's it like for you to be powerless?

Do you have any situations in your life at this time where you are powerless and where you're trying not to be?

Is it possible to turn towards surrender and letting go?

Is it possible to turn towards a deeper place of accepting your powerlessness?

Is it possible to allow another to make their decisions,

To live their life?

Even when you would hope and want them to be making different decisions Receive the grace to let go Bring your attention to your belly once again,

Notice the rise and fall of your breath Remember yourself loved and seen and celebrated Receive what you need and go in peace
