Hi,
My name is Rachel.
Thank you for joining me here today.
Today's practice,
We will be doing a body gratitude.
At times,
When we're feeling down about our physical appearance or our body image,
It can be hard to get out of that mindset.
But by focusing on all of our working parts and showing gratitude,
It can help us get out of that cycle.
So finding a comfortable seated position in a place that you won't be disturbed.
You can start getting comfortable and becoming aware of your surroundings.
Maybe noticing any sights,
Colors or objects,
Any sounds,
The sound of my voice,
Music.
And whenever you feel ready to do so,
Gently closing your eyes.
Starting to become aware of your breath.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Breathing in,
I am calm and breathing out,
I am at peace.
Noticing the rise and the fall of your chest.
How your stomach muscles go in and out.
Maybe notice the area of your nostril and upper breath feels cool or warm.
What does it feel like for me to breathe right now?
As your awareness stays with the breath,
Start to become aware of your whole body.
Notice any areas of contact.
Noticing the surface below in which you're seated on.
Where you're hands are placed.
How the clothing feels against your skin.
Starting at the top of the head,
Doing a gentle body scan.
Notice if there's any areas of tension.
We're not changing anything,
We're just noticing.
Does your body feel heavy or light?
Does it feel busy or quiet?
Any sensations throughout the body?
So starting with the five senses,
We will show some gratitude for all they do for us and how they are constantly working for a benefit.
Starting with the eyes.
Your eyes are the pathway from us to this world.
They guide us.
Thank you eyes for all you do for me.
Thank you for always protecting me.
Taking a deep breath,
Really feeling that gratitude towards your eyes.
Moving on to your nose.
Our noses are constantly smelling,
A beautiful flower.
Thank you nose for all you do for me.
Taking a deep breath,
Feeling that gratitude towards your nose.
Moving on to your mouth.
Our mouths help us communicate with those around us.
They also let us taste all the food that we desire.
Thank you mouth for all you do for me.
Taking a deep breath in,
Really sending all the gratitude towards your mouth.
Letting go and moving on to the ears.
Our ears help us communicate with all around us.
They let us hear birds chirping,
Beautiful waterfalls.
Thank you ears for all you do for me.
Thank you.
Letting go and moving on to the hands.
Our hands have the ability to touch and to feel and to help us physically do things.
Thank you hands for all you do for me.
Taking a deep breath,
Feeling that gratitude towards your hands.
Moving on to your feet.
Our feet physically are able to make its way through this world and to get us from one place to the next.
Thank you feet for all you do for me.
Taking a deep breath in,
Feeling that gratitude towards your feet.
Moving on to your heart.
Our hearts are constantly pumping blood throughout our bodies and keeping us alive every minute and every second.
Thank you heart for all you do for me.
Feeling that gratitude towards your heart.
Letting go and moving on to our stomach.
Our stomach,
Our digestive system is constantly breaking down nutrients knowing exactly what to keep and what to get rid of.
Thank you digestive system for all you do for me.
Feeling that gratitude spread throughout your entire body.
Before we begin to let go of this practice,
Show some gratitude to yourself for showing up here today.
And know that you can always return back to this place of gratitude anytime,
Anywhere.
So starting to notice the rise and the fall of your chest.
How the breath comes in and out.
Notice the surface on which you're seated on.
Notice any sounds,
Any smells.
Notice how you can start making any small movements that feel comfortable.
Small shoulder rolls,
Stretch.
And whenever you feel ready to do so,
You can gently open your eyes,
Returning to your surroundings.
Thank you for joining me here today.
