Take a moment to settle in to a comfortable position.

If at any moment during our time together,

You feel the need to readjust or move,

Feel free to do so.

Let your hands rest by your sides or on your lap while keeping your feet and legs relaxed and uncrossed.

Notice if you can become just 5 or 10% more comfortable in whatever position you've chosen.

I invite you now to gently close your eyes.

If you prefer not to,

Simply soften your gaze and fixate on a single point in the room.

Focus on my words and the music.

Any other sounds you may hear during our time together will only help you relax more deeply.

Take a slow breath in through your nose.

And as you exhale,

Let your body begin to soften,

To grow heavier and sink deeper into the surface beneath you.

Supported,

Settled,

And secure.

Imagine there's a bookshelf just outside this room.

Where you can place any distracting thoughts,

Any items that remain on today's to-do list.

Feel free to pick them back up when our session is over.

Now bring your awareness to your body.

Imagine a wave of relaxation pouring through your muscles.

Starting at the top of your head and making its way through the tips of your fingers and toes.

Going at the perfect speed and feeling like the perfect temperature of relaxation.

Signaling to your mind and muscles that it's time to relax.

Now I invite you to notice that particular negative feeling that has been present and has brought you here for help today.

It might be a reoccurring thought,

A sense of pressure.

You may not even know exactly where it came from,

And that's okay.

Simply notice the sensation in your body that feels connected to this discomfort.

Where is it located?

What is its shape?

Its size?

Its weight?

You might even imagine giving it a color,

A temperature,

Or a texture.

At the center of this sensation,

Imagine there is an electrical cord plugged into you.

It might be draining your energy or bringing you negative energy you didn't ask for.

Take a few moments to observe this connection and follow the other end of this cord to identify its source.

There is nothing to fix.

This is just about observing.

This is just about self-awareness and understanding your relationship with this source.

And now,

With kindness and gentleness,

You choose to unplug,

Feeling free of any anger,

Shame,

Or resentment as you do so.

Once you've removed the cord,

Take a moment to dispose of it.

You can tie it to a balloon and watch it float away,

Or drop it into the ocean and let it disappear.

Do whatever feels right for you.

Now,

Where that cord was once connected to you,

Visualize that space being sealed.

You can fill it with a soothing color or a comforting sensation.

Let that new energy settle into your body.

Feel your system recalibrating gently,

Quietly,

Peacefully.

You've just practiced the ability to affectionately detach.

You can come back to this moment and use this tool anytime you need it.

Now,

I'll guide you gently back to this room.

One,

Feeling more alert.

Two,

Bringing awareness to the room around you.

Three,

Feeling a renewed sense of lightness and clarity.

Four,

Gently wiggling your fingers and toes.

Five,

When you're ready,

Open your eyes,

Feeling awake,

Clear,

And at ease.
