The Unicorn Glade For this guided visualization find a time you can be alone and lie down for a while Alternatively,
You may want to do this before you go to sleep Sit or lie down and loosen any tight clothing or belts so you don't feel uncomfortable or restricted Close your eyes and begin to breathe long,
Slow breaths Inhale through your nose for a count of five and exhale through your mouth counting to seven Don't worry if you can't hold to that count Don't force yourself Just do what you can Inhale through your nose for a count of five and exhale through your mouth counting to seven Don't force yourself Just do what you can Just do what you can Continue these long,
Slow breaths for a short while and then let your body just relax Allow your breathing to fall into a natural rhythm Allow your breathing to fall into a natural rhythm You are standing on a small path that runs through woodland The sky above is fading in washes of violet and pink The sun is going down The shadows under the trees are darkening There is a scent of dew The drowsy smell of a summer evening Birds sing,
Some close at hand others deep in the windless trees Rabbits have come out to nibble at the grass Rabbits have come out to nibble at the grass The path is dry,
Formed of beaten earth and it draws you on A deep peace seems to have settled on the land making it feel dreamy,
Very calm,
Perfectly safe You walk easily,
Without haste just enjoying the tranquility that lies on these woods You come to a tiny stream,
So narrow you could step over it but a little stone bridge arches across it like something from a fairy tale It looks almost whimsical and you find yourself smiling as you cross it On the other side of the bridge,
The woods grow thicker the trees closer together It becomes more quiet but it's not the quiet of impending night that you feel but rather a profound peace almost a feeling that this place is protected The shadows deepen,
Lending the air a green glow and the path curves upward over a small hillock Small steps lead down the other side,
Into a glade cradled in the arms of the wood A stream pours like silk over a small waterfall and into a shallow pool Short,
Soft grass grows to the edges of the pool,
Almost as if it's a mirror pressed into green velvet You walk toward it,
Watching the foam of the waterfall ripple out into glassy stillness You sit down on the soft grass that retains the warmth of the sun,
Listening to the water and a nightingale This is a place where it feels as if time unravels and means nothing The last of the light slips away and stars snap far off brilliance into the sky above Tiny motes of light dance above the water They are smaller than fireflies and brighter and you reach out your hand One of them comes to you,
Floating over your palm,
Then the music of the nightingale stops and the tiny lights cluster together The full moon has sailed over the glade and its radiance bathes the water There is a sense of waiting and you lift your head at a soft sound behind you and then you go utterly still A creature walks out of the trees It is familiar to you,
But only through legends and images The moon pours light onto its whiteness as it moves,
Proud as an emperor over the grass It is a unicorn Its coat,
Pure as new snow Its horn,
Glittering It is tall,
Elegant and beyond beautiful There is immense power in the smooth muscles,
The long legs,
The arch of its neck Its hooves strike the turf gently as it walks to the pool and bends its head to drink The fairy lights gather about it and you hear a chiming,
As if of distant silver bells Water drips from the unicorn's muzzle as it lifts its head again and turns it towards you Its eyes are huge and dark and pure as the water You can hardly breathe as it takes one step closer to you and dips its head to you Very slowly you raise a hand,
Unsure if you are meant to touch it So many tales are spun about this mythical creature that you hesitate and as you do,
It pushes its velvet soft muzzle against your fingers You feel a sensation like mild electric tingles in your skin The great head nuzzles against you as if you are a friend whom it has not seen in a long time You move your hand gently over the bone of its face,
The smooth neck Its coat is warm and silken For all it is a legend,
Hot blood runs under its skin It is no dream,
But myth made into reality here in this enchanted place Perhaps in all the worlds this is the only place this creature comes And you are amazed that you have been allowed to see it But as if it reads your thoughts,
The unicorn gives a shake of its head and gleaming mane And you feel strongly that it knows you and everything about you It has permitted you to come to this place and see it Slowly you get to your feet and you rest your head against its arched neck while the moon watches and the water murmurs nighttime dreams At last it moves,
Giving you a little nudge with its head and you watch as it walks away A creature of starlight and moonlight,
It seems to leave a glimmer in the air behind it As it reaches the trees,
It stops and turns,
Looks toward you with those eyes that see into you so deeply And then silent as mist,
It is gone You wait for a moment before sitting back down on the grass The moon has gone now and stars glitter over the glade You lie down and rest your head looking up at them,
Thinking of what you have seen Gradually,
Safe and protected,
You begin to drift into deep relaxation and slowly the glade grows dim,
Fading away into the waking world Still you lie relaxed until you are ready to get up You think that there was a promise in the unicorn's eyes,
A promise that you might return there and see something that few have ever seen
