An infinite awareness guided meditation.

This quiet awareness meditation will help you to deepen your understanding and experience of your mind's infinite awareness.

It can be practiced whenever you have time to relax and will not be disturbed.

A soft chime will bring the meditation to a close.

Make yourself comfortable,

Laying down or sitting,

And either close your eyes or allow them to half close and become a little unfocused.

Breathe slowly and naturally,

And bring your attention to your breath.

Let each exhale breath be at least as long as each breath in.

Allow yourself to think about your breathing but not concentrate upon it,

Perhaps a quarter of your attention may be on it,

Knowing that you are breathing,

Aware of it,

While the rest of your mind is not.

Your mind may wander as it often does.

Now,

With another part of your mind,

Notice whether or not you are still taking notice of your breathing,

Or whether,

After a short time,

You forget about it,

As we often do.

This second part of the mind acts as a witness,

The part that notices.

It is the awareness that tells you when mindfulness has dropped away.

It is the awareness that guides you back to mindfulness.

Now,

Continue in this way,

Noticing when your attention on the breath has fallen away.

Now,

Consider that the watching part of your mind needs another part of the mind to observe it.

So this third part of your mind notices whether or not you are still aware of your mindfulness of the breath.

Is the witness part of the mind still observing?

Think of this third watcher as having another partner of the mind.

As having another partner of the mind,

Further back,

That observes the watcher who observes the watcher.

And so these parts or segments of the mind go back further and further.

Follow for a moment this sensation of moving further back within your mind.

Deeper into the origins of awareness.

Who is the original witness and where?

If you find your mind confused,

Simply rest without thinking.

Rest in the spaciousness of awareness.

It is limitless,

Without beginning,

Without end.

And that spaciousness,

Infinite,

Expansive awareness is you.

It is infinite in its ability to notice.

It is infinite in its ability to see,

To feel and to listen.

Just continue to rest within this sensation of spaciousness.

If you feel your mind has wandered,

Or is focusing on something else,

Return the focus of your mind to your breathing.

Now,

Again,

Be aware of the first part of your mind on your breath.

Be aware of the first part of your mind on your breath.

The second part of the mind witnessing the first.

The third part of the mind witnessing the witness.

The fourth part of the mind witnessing the witness of the witness.

You may want to imagine it as if you are stepping back and back again,

Observing these parts of your mind as they move past you like clouds,

Or vehicles on a road.

Or perhaps you think of them as planets in the infinity of space.

You watch them pass as you,

Within your mind,

Travel back.

They go on and away into the distance.

And so you step back to that sensation of open spaciousness again,

Of infinite awareness.

And there you rest.

You remain within infinite potential,

Limitless awareness,

Within the quiet space.

All of this is you.
