Hello and welcome to the Body Appreciation Meditation.
My name is Heather and today I will be guiding you through an exploration of your body,
Inspiring gratitude as we go along.
Please find a quiet place to rest.
And then close your eyes when you're ready.
Now simply sit with your body,
Check in with it,
Taking the time to just pause everything and connect.
Feel the rise and fall of your chest,
Following the breath and noticing the unique rhythm of it.
Now take some time to disconnect from any mind chatter.
Overthinking or scattered thoughts can prevent us from engaging with our physical body.
With a few deep breaths just let your thoughts clear.
Anytime you feel your thoughts dominating your mind,
Come back to focusing on the breath and clear the thoughts out.
Now connect with your head,
Moving into the forehead and the face.
Consider your eyes and how important they are to you.
Everything that they take in,
How they help you identify faces,
Internalize information and appreciate beauty.
No pair of eyes is exactly alike.
Your eyes are completely unique,
Just like snowflakes.
Now consider the beautiful colors and the intricate dimensions of the eyes.
Now connect with your ears,
Admiring their dynamic shape and their ability to listen,
Their ability to hear.
Now out loud or just repeat in your mind,
Thank you eyes,
Thank you ears and sit in appreciation.
Now connect with your nose and your mouth.
Take a nice deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Place appreciation for the natural filtration system of the nose,
The tiny hairs that help filter the air you breathe.
Offer thanks for your lips,
Your strong teeth,
The tongue that allows you to enjoy every piece of food and now say thank you nose,
Thank you mouth and sit in appreciation.
Move down the spine,
Feel the strength of those important bones,
The bones that keep your body erect and moving.
Straighten the head,
Neck and your back as you say thank you spine,
Thank you back.
Now focus on your arms,
Bringing your attention all the way down to your fingertips.
Working with the muscles here and the delicate bones of your hands.
Stand in appreciation for your arms by saying thank you arms,
Thank you hands.
Now shift your attention to your chest.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest as you breathe.
Feel your heart beating in rhythm with your breath and repeat thank you lungs,
Thank you heart.
Now bring your attention to your abdomen,
This is the core of your body.
Breathe into it considering all the organs that make up your core,
The stomach,
The intestines and their jobs and functions and repeat thank you core,
Thank you stomach.
Now focus on your legs,
Feel the strong bones and the muscles that help you walk.
Connect with your feet and appreciate every tiny muscle and bone and repeat thank you legs,
Thank you feet.
Now you may have noticed that your mind might have started drifting as you explore your body and if so take a few moments to return to the area where you are having trouble sitting in appreciation or maybe you have a part of your body that is giving you some trouble or some pain.
Sit with these body parts now and allow any and all thoughts to surface no matter if it's good or bad.
Now clear the mind again by focusing on the breath and create a blank slate making room for appreciation.
Clear away any dark thoughts,
Any doubts,
Any negative self-talk and see your body for what it truly is,
A remarkable vehicle,
A true gift.
Your body protects you,
It nourishes you,
It allows you to experience everything that life has to offer.
Take a few moments to treasure your body,
Appreciating it for how unique it is and its divine beauty.
Feel appreciation flow from the top of your head down to your spine,
Down into your arm and fingers,
Spread the appreciation to your chest and abdomen,
Down into your legs and feet and focus on feeling your whole body glowing with gratitude.
Now begin to let your breath return to a rhythm that is normal for you.
Easy inhales and exhales.
Open your eyes when you're ready,
Wiggle your toes and fingers and return to the rest of your day with a new appreciation for your amazing and unique body.
