Hi,
I'm Sammy from Temple Yoga Perth.
Welcome to your space.
This meditation is your chance to pause,
Breathe and care for yourself.
My hope through our time is that you can unwind,
Release what's not serving you and connect to your higher self,
Bringing your mind,
Body,
Heart and spirit back into alignment.
Make sure that you are able to really give yourself undivided attention now,
That you are investing time and you are able to focus.
So if you have come carrying any thoughts or baggage or to-do lists or pressure or stress or strong sticking emotions or if you're recovering from an injury and you have pain in your body,
Let's just try to take it off like a backpack and drop it on the floor,
Just like as if we came home from work,
We're taking off that heavy bag of just stuff that we don't need right now in our mindfulness practice.
Know and trust that those to-do lists and that pressure and the stress will be there if you want it afterwards.
You can pick it up and continue with it if you need to,
But for right now,
We're putting it down.
And to help our mind to do that,
Again,
We're giving our mind one job and our mind's job is to focus on our breath.
And to help us do that,
We are going to be curious and observe what it feels like to be in our body right here,
Right now.
If you can breathe in to any points of tension that you can observe in your body now,
Do so breathing in and as you breathe out through your nose steadily,
You feel that tension easing and softness coming.
Breathing in and releasing and letting go.
You unclench your jaw.
You exhale.
You relax your face.
You find ease in your body and an openness.
If you can,
Where you are,
Place your hands just on your ribs.
And as you breathe in,
Feel your fingers expanding as your ribs expand,
Taking a deep,
Full conscious breath and steadily exhale through your nose,
Calming your mind,
Signaling to your system that you are safe and everything is okay.
Breathing in and exhale steadily through your nose.
Two more breaths,
Breathing in and expanding your fingers and exhaling.
Beautiful.
Just allow your hands to drop into your lap.
Allow them to be heavy and relaxed.
If you can,
Keep and maintain a soft,
Open posture.
We are going to visualize that we are getting ready.
We are getting ready to go and meet up with a friend that we haven't seen in a really long time.
This is a very precious friendship to you.
Someone that you laugh with until you cry.
Someone that you have shared your lowest of lows.
Someone that has seen you on your worst day and your best day.
Someone that has been by your side through thick and thin.
But life has gotten in the way and you've become really busy and you hadn't been able to spend as much time as you would have liked to with this friend.
But finally,
You have set aside this time to go and meet them.
You're just going for a coffee,
But you remembered their favorite coffee that they drink and their favorite place because they love looking at the ocean.
You made sure you reserved the table where you can both chat and chat and spend beautiful time,
But looking out at the ocean,
Their most favorite thing.
Because you love them,
You put thought in and you know that they've also had a very busy,
Stressful time.
And you've bought them some of their most favorite treats.
You've brought them a card just to remind them of how valuable they are to you.
And you put the words in there to describe how much they mean to you and just how much you love them.
And now you're really excited to meet them and you haven't seen them in a while.
So you make sure that you are looking really good and presentable and you are wearing a really great outfit,
One that you know that they would also love.
So as you grab your gifts and you head to this location,
Which you put thought in,
You're really excited.
Because although you haven't spoken in a while,
And although you were really stressed and tired,
You are just longing to be with them,
To chat,
To listen,
To love them.
And you know that even if they need to talk to you,
And they've had a hard time,
That it's okay,
That you care and you're going to be there for them.
So as you push open the cafe door,
You are bursting with excitement.
You can feel the excitement in your belly,
In your fingertips.
It's like electricity.
You cannot wait to see them and your face is beaming as you walk up to them.
And they stand to greet you and you wrap your arms around them.
You just give them such a big squeeze because you haven't seen them or been able to hug them and love them in so long.
And when you release their embrace,
You look at them.
And you realise that that friend is you.
That same thought,
That same feeling of love,
That same desire to connect,
To listen,
To make space for,
To invest in,
To listen to,
That is all for you.
Because you care for what you value.
You make time for what you value.
And that is what you do every time you invest in your health,
You invest in your wellbeing,
And you make little spaces like this mindfulness spot.
So well done on making this time for yourself.
Returning towards yourself.
For caring,
For listening,
For loving yourself.
Well done for spending this quality time with you.
And know that as you invest and love and care for yourself,
You are being the best you possible for those around you.
Thank you for sharing this time with me.
And most importantly,
Thank you for making this space for yourself.
I look forward to meeting you in a mindfulness spot next time.
