Let's pause here for a little while.
And notice how this moment feels.
We can be curious about what's already here.
Right now.
The body can settle into a position that feels comfortable.
Whether that's sitting or lying down.
We can allow it to be.
How it wants to be.
And we can let the body choose its own way of settling.
The eyes can be open or closed.
Whichever feels easier.
The muscles around the eyes may begin to soften a little.
The forehead may soften too.
And the jaw.
The shoulders and the rest of the body.
In its own time.
We're making a little space where some ease may appear.
Today we are exploring comfort.
We're usually quick to notice where there's discomfort.
It's something that catches attention.
But what about comfort?
And subtle comfort in particular.
How easily do we notice that?
I wonder.
If there might be any parts of the body.
That feel comfortable already.
Maybe we can tune into the areas that are being supported right now.
By the chair or the bed.
Or the floor.
Might there be some sense of ease present?
When we sense that our weight is being carried.
Perhaps.
There's a place in the body.
Where the temperature feels right.
Not too warm,
Not too cold.
Or somewhere there's a fabric.
Resting against the skin.
And it feels soft.
Or familia.
Perhaps the breath.
Is moving the body.
In a way that feels easeful.
We're not trying to find perfect comfort.
But wherever there's subtle comfort.
We can let attention rest there for a while.
Comfort doesn't usually make itself known in a big,
Flashy way.
It tends to be quiet.
More often in the background.
It could be how the hands are resting in the lap.
And there's just some kind of natural ease about it.
It could be how we are not even aware of our toes.
And we only notice that actually.
They are quite comfortable,
Even though we hadn't placed them in any particular way.
Or given them any thought at all.
If we take a moment and pause,
We may start to notice and recognize.
That there may be all sorts of flavours of subtle ease present.
There may also be times when comfort is difficult to tune into.
If that's the case today,
We can acknowledge that.
We can notice what's true right now.
Without needing anything to be different.
We don't need to add judgement.
To the discomfort that's there.
Maybe comfort can arise.
From how we choose to be with ourselves in these moments.
We could hold ourselves like a delicate flower.
On the palm of our hand.
For a little while.
We might gently wander.
What is it like to notice?
But there is comfort here.
Whether it's an easeful sensation in the body.
Or how we are holding ourselves right now.
We don't need to do anything with it.
Or make it lead anywhere.
Or turn it into something else.
We're just resting in it for a few moments.
As we are noticing some flavour of comfort and resting in it.
Is there anything that happens on its own?
Maybe it stays exactly as it is.
Maybe something in the body softens a little further.
Either way.
Is fine.
We're not chasing an outcome.
We're just staying with what's already here.
And now we can begin to widen awareness again.
Sensing the space around us.
The sounds that are present.
The body resting where it is.
When it feels right,
The fingers or the toes might move a little.
And if the eyes have been closed they can open in their own time.
Taking in the space around us as we continue with the rest of the day.
Perhaps we can remember.
That comfort doesn't necessarily make itself known loudly.
Sometimes it just waits to be noticed.
Already present.
And from here we can continue.
In a gentler way.
