Visualization To Overcome Artist's Block & Procrastination

Creation is messy, believe me, I know, and when you're in the weeds it's easy to lose sight of the fact that it's all going the way it is meant to. Join me on a deeply relaxing guided visualization where you'll fall back in love with your practice, fill your heart centre with inspiration, and feel juiced up, fired up... and ready to launch back into creation. Oh hi.
Hi friend.
How are you?
Where am I finding you today?
Are you excited?
Are you scared?
Are you restless?
Whatever it is,
It's perfect.
Exactly as you are is exactly the way you are meant to be.
You have no responsibilities right now.
Just sit.
Be in this moment.
Be completely,
A million percent,
You.
Take a deep breath in.
And when you're as full as possible,
Hold it at the top.
Take one final extra sip.
And let the breath fall out of your body.
Take another deep breath in.
Filling up the belly,
Filling up the chest.
Filling up until you feel like you might explode and then take one last extra sip.
Hold at the top for a nanosecond.
And let the air fall out of your body.
Do a little body scan from the top of your head.
How's your scalp?
What's your forehead doing?
Hey forehead,
You can relax.
Hey eyes,
You can relax.
Hey face,
Hey jaw,
You can just hang out.
We're going on an internal journey.
Feel the rest of your body for any tension,
Any little pains,
Any little joys.
And acknowledge them all.
They're all welcome here.
It's okay.
Let go as much as you can.
But however you are is perfect.
You are whole and you are wonderful.
Just as you are in this moment.
We're going to go on a little walk.
Right now we're just in darkness.
All we're seeing are the bits of light that we see through our eyelids.
We see those little patterns dancing around.
It's going to look different depending on where you are,
How many light sources you have around you.
Whatever you see through your eyelids is perfect.
Imagine any of those little lights or shapes dancing together.
Just dancing in rhythm together.
Maybe to the rhythm of your breath.
Maybe completely to their own tune.
Maybe you even hear music.
And eventually they all come together in the middle and they form a portal.
It might look like a door.
It might look like a big psychedelic swirl.
It might look like the center of a flower.
Whatever the portal looks like,
It's the portal for you.
And you're washed over with a feeling of safety and trust.
And you know that walking through is absolutely the right thing to do.
So slowly you make your way to the portal and you walk through it.
As you walk through,
You walk into the most beautiful place you've ever seen.
All of your favorite colors are there.
Your favorite textures.
The ground is just that favorite texture that you love whenever you feel it under your feet.
It makes you feel so peaceful and grounded and right.
And the air is the perfect temperature.
And whatever you hear and witness and feel are all of the feelings that make you feel the most absolutely 100% you.
You are your authentic inner being walking through this world.
And as you walk along,
You approach a forest of sorts.
It's all your favorite kind of trees.
And there's rich,
Lush foliage and all kinds of flowers and wonderful creatures skittering about.
And you walk along and take it in.
And as you walk,
You notice it starts to get darker around you.
But there are sources of light coming from the trees.
There are these beautiful,
Wonderful pods of light growing in the trees like pine cones or flowers or buds of sort.
But they're pure light.
And you walk by them and you see them and they each seem to have their own spirit,
Their own presence,
Almost like they are little souls.
And you acknowledge them and you take them in as you walk along.
Each little pod of light,
Its own creation.
And as you continue,
You see one pod of light just ahead that seems to sing to you.
Maybe it actually sings out loud to you and you hear it.
Maybe it shines in a way that it seems like it's shining directly into your heart.
Maybe it's just a deep knowing,
But you know that it's somehow yours.
And you flood with joy and peace and a sense of ease.
And you reach out with your hands very gently.
You can tell it's just a baby.
It's just a sweet,
Young,
Innocent light that wants so much to be born.
It wants so much to exist in the world,
In the physical,
Even for but a fleeting moment,
Even as an ephemeral experience or perhaps as a lasting physical manifestation.
You can tell it wants to be born.
And as you look at it,
It's almost as though it has shining eyes,
Shining bright eyes.
And there is a trust and a love and an innocence in those eyes.
And you just feel it in this exchange.
It is choosing you and you are choosing it.
And you hold it close to your chest and you rock it like a baby.
And you say,
I've got you.
You're okay now.
I've got you.
And you pull this beautiful light away from your face just a little to look at it again.
You see the contours of it and all the little pieces that are beginning to grow,
How it's already starting to evolve.
And you recognize things in it and you realize this is your idea.
This is your wonderful creation.
This is the project that you're working on right now in its infant stage,
Being held by you and trusting you to be the steward of its existence.
And you hold it and you realize that it's a little bit vulnerable.
And you realize you're a little bit scared.
Will you be the best creator to bring this idea to life?
Can you give it everything it wants?
Are you the one?
You don't let on to the idea.
No,
It's too new.
You don't want to scare it away.
But you listen to those feelings inside your heart.
And you say,
I'll answer those questions later.
Right now I've just got to take care of this idea.
This idea needs me.
I'm going to push through the fear.
It's looking at me with those big shiny eyes and it needs me.
And I can do this.
And you take your beautiful idea and you walk along together.
You just feel each other's rhythms and you get into sync with each other.
Maybe you look at some of the other ideas and smile as you walk by.
Maybe you share a laugh.
Maybe even dance a little.
And you just feel so right and so okay in this moment.
This moment is beautiful and everything's okay.
And together you approach a door.
And you realize it's part of a much bigger building.
Oh,
And it's a magnificent building.
Oh my gosh.
It has all of these incredible details and the light is hitting it just right and you're just so curious.
But it feels absolutely right to approach this door and open it and walk through.
And you carry your sweet idea on into this room.
And as you walk in,
You feel this darkness and this coolness and this stillness.
And this calm washes over you.
And you look up and you see the ceiling is like a domed planetarium.
And there's a big projector and two very cushy seats just waiting for you.
The perfect texture,
The perfect angle for you to lay back and feel completely supported and embraced as you and your idea recline and look up at this magnificent ceiling,
This magnificent projection screen.
And you realize the projections will come from you.
And you look over at this sweet,
Vulnerable idea that's trusting you so much and you just want to comfort it.
You want it to know that it's safe with you.
And so you look up at the projection screen and you decide to show your beautiful idea some things about you to let them know how right you are for them.
So you look up at the screen and you think back to some of the many other ideas that you've taken and you've nurtured and you've gotten messy with and you've gotten stuck with.
Maybe you've gotten frustrated.
Maybe you've asked for help.
Maybe you've had to put them somewhere safe for a little while and walk away and come back when the time is right.
And you're honest with the idea you show them.
Maybe show them that the birthing process isn't always easy.
Sometimes you get frustrated.
Sometimes you get sad.
Sometimes you doubt.
But then as you watch all of these incredible accomplishments of yours playing on the ceiling,
Awards that you've won,
Creations that have been brought to stages or galleries or ears and eyes and hearts and minds of others,
Work that you have brought to fruition and felt that incredible pride of accomplishment as a result of projects that you have brought to fruition.
And you see yourself after each of those projects and their culmination and how it feels after they've been shared with the world.
Whatever your barometer for success is.
Maybe you won an award.
Maybe you had a standing ovation.
Maybe it's just that you had an idea and you wrestled with it.
But you made it.
You did it.
You made it.
And that is gigantic.
And the idea sits next to you and watches all of these amazing works and creations and manifestations of yours play along on the screen.
And it glows a little brighter.
And it reaches out and it takes your hand and squeezes it.
And it leans over and whispers in your ear.
And it tells you something.
What does it say?
And then the idea decides that it's their turn to show you something on the screen.
So you just sit back and you watch.
And the idea shows you an incredible array of images.
Some of its hopes and dreams for what it might like to be when it grows up.
How it might look.
Some images that might be incorporated.
Some sounds it might like to involve.
A vibrational feeling.
Lights.
Colors.
And it shows you in all sorts of bits and pieces a magical collage of dreams and ideas.
And feelings.
No particular attachment.
Not committed to these ideas.
Just a hopeful looking forward of what its life might be like when it grows up.
How people might feel about it.
You see different people saying what they learned from it.
How their lives were changed by it.
Maybe thanking you for bringing it to the world.
And you listen.
And you take it in.
Noting anything that seems of importance.
And you just feel this overwhelming sense of calm and trust and love between you and this idea.
You seem to have an understanding.
They get it.
They understand.
It's going to be messy.
It'll be vulnerable sometimes.
But what matters is you've chosen each other.
And you feel so called to bring and realize this idea.
It's absolutely what is meant to be in this moment.
You are the steward for this idea.
You are co-creators.
You and this creation.
Together following each other's cues,
Dancing,
Listening to each other.
You'll fall down together,
You'll get up together,
You'll get stuck together,
You'll wrestle out together.
But just like every other time you've made something and brought it to the world,
You too will bring this idea into the world.
And I'm so excited for you.
Now take a few deep breaths.
Take your idea,
That wonderful beam of light.
Hold it to your chest again.
And you feel the light gently penetrating your skin.
Oh,
It's a comfortable,
Wonderful feeling.
The idea absorbs into you.
And it lives inside of you.
It isn't you.
You're its steward.
And it is its own creation.
And it's inside of you so you can work together to bring it to the world.
Now together as one being full of light,
Ready to create,
You step through that door and back out into the world,
And you walk back through that wonderful forest of ideas of light.
Oh,
And you walk past them,
Just a beam of light yourself,
Your idea flickering inside your chest.
And approach your portal,
And you walk back through it,
And sit back down into your body,
Into the room,
Into your moment where you are right now,
Back to seeing those little particles of light under your eyelids,
Just as they are.
You take some deep breaths,
Filling up your chamber all the way into your belly,
All the way into your chest,
One final sip of air,
And let it fall out.
Do that three more times.
And when you feel ready,
Acknowledging that that light and trust is inside of you,
That you and your wonderful creation are united in spirit,
Go into the world and create.
You've got this,
Friends.
You believe in each other,
And that's everything.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes gently,
Come back into the room.
It's time to create.
I wish you well.
Thank you.

Loved this. Itβs bizarre, but I used to use a very simular format in a shamanic healing group I used to do in Bali. The format would just arrive, just like Big Magic ! It was lovely to enter that portal again & have someone lead it for me.
