There is an old tale where an old Cherokee chief is teaching his grandson about life.
A fight is going on inside me,
He said to the boy.
It is a terrible fight,
And it is between two wolves.
One is evil,
He is angry,
Envy,
Sorrow,
Regret,
Greed,
Arrogance,
Self-pity,
Guilt,
Resentment,
Inferiority,
Lies,
False pride,
Superiority,
Self-doubt,
And ego.
The other is good,
He is joy,
Peace,
Love,
Hope,
Serenity,
Humility,
Kindness,
Benevolence,
Empathy,
Generosity,
Truth,
Compassion,
And faith.
The same fight is going on inside you,
And inside every other person too.
The grandson then asked his grandfather,
Which wolf will win?
The old chief simply replied,
The one you feed.
Take a moment to visualize the year that has just passed.
The habits,
The heavy thoughts,
Specific situations that might have felt burdensome.
These are the points where our energy feels tied down or has leaked away.
Can you imagine cords attached to whatever or whoever your energy connects to?
Trust what you see,
And if you can't see the cords,
Simply feel them.
Just trust what arises,
Trust your intuition.
You may feel a pull,
A weight,
A tension in a certain part of your body.
The connection is there.
You have a choice.
You can use a blade of light to cut these cords.
You can choose to watch them gently dissolve.
These cords that tie these different thoughts and people to us.
Can you imagine a blade of light cutting through them?
Can you imagine these cords slowly dissolving?
Can you see or feel these connections breaking or melting away?
As they dissolve,
Notice the immediate relief in your physical body.
You are untethering yourself from what no longer serves you.
As the cords dissolve,
Witness your energy healing.
See and feel your vibrant golden energy coming back to you.
It flows back from those old connections into your heart and into your core.
You are becoming whole again,
Reclaiming the light you left behind.
You may want to say silently,
I call my energy back to me now.
I am whole.
Just feel that energy being restored.
Notice the space that has been created.
Feel the lightness in your body.
You have agency as to how you want to walk through the world.
This is your new walk.
Can you visualize how you want to walk in the coming months?
Are you walking with an open heart and steady courage?
Are you choosing curiosity over judgment?
Are you walking with kindness as your shield?
How are you walking through your daily life?
At work,
At home,
In the community?
Choose one or two words to be your compass.
For example,
Peace,
Focus,
Resilience,
Patience,
Joy.
What words are coming up for you?
Inhale the word deep into your lungs.
Let it saturate every cell.
Reclaim it.
Let this word be the rhythm of your footsteps.
You simply need to move from this place of intention.
Commit to taking one small physical step today that aligns with this new walk.
And bringing ourselves back.
Wiggling our fingers and our toes.
Connecting back to the earth.
Claiming the space around you.
This stretch or a deep breath.
And taking our new intention out into the world.
