Lions and tigers typically snooze 15 hours a day while brown bats sleep for a whole 19 hours.

Dr.

Author of Why We Sleep,

Says dolphins can even sleep with half a brain,

Meaning that one hemisphere of the brain remains awake while the other falls off and on into deep slumber.

How much sleep have you gotten lately and have you deprived yourself of sleep for no good reason?

This is Suresh from Blossom Meditation and let me share a loving nidra meditation with you.

It's a take on loving kindness but for self-care and sleep.

You can start by lying down on a bed.

Make yourself comfortable.

Snuggle into your sheets or stay warm wearing a sweater.

Keep your hands relaxed,

Palm facing up and let the legs fall to the sides on their own weight.

This is also the posture used in the final yoga session called Shavasana.

Start noticing your breath and take a deep inhale and let all the air out through the mouth and let the body relax.

Repeat this a couple of more times and let your body sink deeper to the bed and prepare your body for rest.

Sindhu Bhairavi is a soulful Carnatic Raga.

In this longer piece,

My friend and flutist Shrikanth uses the southern Indian flute in the Raga Sindhu Bhairavi to enable you to drift off to deep sleep.

You can start by silently repeating these phrases to yourself.

May I feel sleepy?

May I feel no worry?

May I rest in ease?

May I feel sleepy?

May I feel no worry?

May I rest in ease?

Keep repeating and good night.
