Watch the breath and fall asleep is a meditation to just watch the breath and fall asleep. Breathing is something you do either consciously or unconsciously. By simply focusing your attention on your breathing, and without doing anything to change it, you can move in the direction of relaxation. It is a simple technique that you can use as part of your wind down routine.

Sleep is not like a light switch that you can turn on the moment you hit the bed and fall asleep immediately.

One of the tips that Dr.

Matthew Walker,

Sleep researcher,

Suggests in his TED talk,

Six Tips for Better Sleep,

Is to have a wind down routine to relax the mind and the body.

Focusing on the breath is an easy activity that you can use either part of your wind down or as your wind down.

Breathing is something that you do either consciously or unconsciously.

By simply focusing your attention on your breathing and without doing anything to change it,

You can move in the direction of relaxation.

This is Suresh from Blossom Meditation and let me share a simple technique to fall asleep.

You can lie in bed or dim the lights in your bedroom and stay seated.

Just notice your breath and see how you're breathing.

Nothing to do,

Nowhere to go.

Just notice the breath.

Is your breath deep or shallow?

Is it quiet or loud?

Are the inhales and exhales of the same duration?

When we are relaxed,

We breathe slowly.

Notice these four qualities in your breath.

Deeper,

Quieter,

Slower and more regular.

Where are you feeling the breath?

Are you feeling it in your nose,

In your chest or in your belly?

Stay curious and watch the breath like a hawk.

When I'm in my kitchen,

My dog Luna watches my every move just in case she may get a treat.

Just like her,

Watch every breath.

Each inhale,

Each exhale.

No need to change the breath.

Just watch.

Keep watching and good night.

Good night.

Good night.
