Hello and welcome.
If you've woken in the middle of the night and your mind has started moving,
Thinking,
Planning,
Worrying,
You are not alone.
For now,
There is nowhere you need to be.
Nothing you need to solve.
You do not need to force yourself back to sleep.
Just allow yourself to rest here for a little while.
And as you listen,
See if you can let the bed hold a little more of your weight.
Feeling the support beneath you,
The softness beneath your head,
Your shoulders,
Your back,
Your legs.
And without changing anything too much,
Simply notice your breathing.
The gentle rise and fall.
No perfect rhythm needed.
Just breathing naturally.
And with each exhale,
See if you can soften a little more.
Softening the forehead,
The jaw,
The muscles around the eyes.
Letting the tongue rest softly in the mouth.
And if thoughts keep coming,
That's OK.
At 3am,
The mind often tries to convince us that everything is urgent.
But right now,
In this moment,
You do not need to figure anything out.
Those thoughts can wait until morning.
For now,
Your only job is resting.
Even resting quietly is helpful for your body.
So there is no pressure here.
No countdown.
No need to try harder to sleep.
Sometimes sleep returns gently when we stop chasing it.
So imagine your thoughts becoming slower now.
Like snow falling softly in the dark.
One thought drifting by,
Then fading.
More space between each thought.
More quiet.
And perhaps you begin to notice the comforting feeling of night time around you.
The stillness.
The darkness.
The sense that the world itself has slowed down.
And you can slow down too.
Your body already knows how to sleep.
You do not need to remember how.
You do not need to make it happen.
Sleep is something your body understands deeply.
So for now,
Just rest.
Breathing softly.
Drifting gently.
Nothing to do.
Nowhere to go.
And if the mind wanders again,
Simply return to the feeling of being supported.
Held.
Safe enough to rest.
Now imagine a soft darkness surrounding you like a warm blanket.
Quiet.
Protective.
Gentle.
Nothing is expected of you here.
No conversations.
No decisions.
No demands.
Only rest.
And with every slow breath out,
Your body begins releasing a little more tension.
The shoulders loosening.
The chest softening.
The stomach relaxing.
The hips becoming heavier.
The legs sinking more deeply into the bed.
And perhaps you begin to notice tiny moments of drifting.
Tiny moments where thoughts feel farther away.
Where the body feels softer.
Sleepier.
More distant from effort.
Allow those moments to grow.
There is no need to hold on to awareness tightly.
You can loosen your grip.
Let the night carry you.
Imagine now that you are lying beside a calm lake in the darkness.
The surface of the water is perfectly still.
The night air cool and peaceful.
Above you,
A sky filled with stars.
And every thought that enters your mind becomes like a ripple on the lake.
Small.
Gentle.
Temporary.
Each ripple fading naturally back into stillness.
Returning again to quiet.
And as your mind becomes calmer,
Your breathing becomes slower.
Easier.
Softer.
You may notice the comforting heaviness of sleep beginning to gather around you.
Behind the eyes.
In the arms.
In the legs.
A pleasant tiredness.
A drifting feeling.
And if the mind suddenly becomes active again,
That's okay.
There is no failure here.
No need to become frustrated.
Just gently returning once more to this moment.
To the breath.
To the bed supporting you.
To the quiet around you.
Resting is enough.
Even now your body is restoring itself.
Calming itself.
Repairing itself.
There is nothing to worry about.
And sleep will come in its own time.
You may already feel yourself becoming heavier.
Sleepier.
More distant from your thoughts.
As though you are floating farther and farther away from them.
And if sleep comes,
Let it come naturally.
And if you are still awake for a while,
That is okay too.
Just keep resting.
Keep softening.
Keep letting go.
And now I'll give you some quiet space to simply drift.
With just a few words from me from time to time.
Resting now.
Softening.
Softening.
Letting the night hold you.
Nothing to solve.
Sleep will come again.
Drifting.
Safe to rest.
Quiet mind.
Letting go.
Floating softly.
Nothing to force.
Heavier now.
Breathing softly.
Supported.
Drifting deeper.
