Hi,
This is Stefania.
It's time to get cozy now.
Find your softest blanket,
Your favorite pillow,
And let your body settle and relax.
Take a slow breath in and a gentle breath out.
Tonight,
We're visiting a quiet woodland beside a shining lake where the trees whisper softly and the stars glow like tiny lanterns.
A place where animals are kind,
Hearts are brave,
And everyone looks after one another.
Let's wander there together now and meet a very special dog named Skipper.
Once upon a time in a small town beside a shimmering lake,
There lived a cheerful golden dog named Skipper the dog.
Skipper was known by everyone.
He had soft golden fur,
Bright sparkling eyes,
And the happiest tail you ever did see.
It wagged from morning to night.
Wherever Skipper went,
Smiles followed.
Children laughed when he trotted past.
Shopkeepers gave him friendly pats,
And the birds seemed to sing a little louder when he walked by.
But Skipper loved one thing most of all.
Adventure.
One sunny morning,
Skipper padded towards the woods beyond the town.
The grass was cool under his paws.
The breeze smelled of pine and fresh earth.
Butterflies floated lazily between the trees.
This feels like a good day,
He thought.
So he wandered deeper and deeper,
Happily sniffing every leaf and log.
And that's when he heard it.
A tiny sound.
Soft.
Lonely.
Eeeewwww.
Skipper followed the sound carefully until he found a small gray kitten hiding beneath a bush.
She was trembling.
Her whiskers twitched nervously,
And her big eyes looked scared and lost.
Skipper's heart melted.
Oh,
Little one,
He thought gently,
You shouldn't be alone.
Very carefully,
He lowered his head and softly carried the kitten by the scruff of her neck,
Just the way a mother cat would.
And she didn't fuss.
Somehow,
She knew she was safe.
As Skipper turned toward home,
A few shapes moved between the trees.
Three coyotes stepped out onto the path.
They weren't fierce or wild,
Just curious and unsure.
But they were bigger than the kitten.
Skipper stopped.
He stood tall,
Not angry,
Not afraid,
Just steady and brave.
He placed himself between the coyotes and the kitten.
Then he gave one strong,
Confident bark.
Oof.
It echoed through the trees like a drum.
Birds fluttered overhead.
Squirrels chattered.
Even an old owl opened one sleepy eye.
The woods felt alive and watchful.
The coyotes paused.
They looked at Skipper.
They looked at the many small animals gathering around him.
And slowly,
Quietly,
They turned and padded back into the trees.
Peace returned.
A new friendship.
Skipper carried the kitten all the way home.
The townsfolk helped care for her.
She grew strong and playful.
Her name became Misty.
From that day on,
She followed Skipper everywhere,
Through the woods,
Around the lake,
Across sunny meadows.
Best friends,
Always side by side.
Word spread quickly about Skipper's kindness.
Soon the woodland animals trusted him.
If someone was lost,
Skipper helped.
If someone was frightened,
Skipper stayed close.
If someone needed courage,
Skipper shared his.
The woods felt warmer with him there,
Like one big family.
And without ever trying to be,
Skipper became their gentle leader.
Growing Older Seasons changed.
Leaves turned gold.
Snow fell softly.
Flowers bloomed again.
Years passed.
Skipper's fur grew lighter around his nose.
His steps slowed a little.
But his eyes still sparkled.
And his heart was as big as ever.
Misty,
Now grown into a graceful cat,
Walked proudly beside him.
She had learned everything from Skipper.
Kindness,
Bravery,
And care for others.
One quiet evening,
Skipper rested beneath his favorite oak tree and smiled.
He knew the woods were safe.
He knew his friends were happy.
And he knew Misty would watch over everyone now.
As the moon rose higher,
Skipper the dog rested his head on his paws and listened to the gentle night songs.
Crickets sang.
Leaves whispered.
The lake shimmered like silver glass.
Everything felt peaceful.
Everything felt home.
And just before sleep carried him away,
Skipper noticed something new drifting on the breeze.
A scent he had never noticed before.
He had never smelled it before.
Warm.
Sweet.
Familiar somehow.
Somewhere,
Deeper in the woods,
Another gentle heart was walking beneath the same stars.
Someone he had not yet met.
Someone who one day would change his life forever.
But that is a story for another time and for another night.
And now,
The woods are quiet once more.
The lake is as smooth as glass.
The fireflies glow and Skipper rests peacefully beneath the stars.
Safe.
Loved.
Home.
And somewhere,
Far away on the night breeze,
A new friend is walking gently through the trees.
Someone Skipper has not yet met.
Someone kind and warm.
But,
We'll save that for another night.
Now,
Just let your eyes grow heavy.
Let your body feel soft and sleepy.
And drift into dreams of moonlight,
Meadows,
And gentle paws in the grass.
You are loved.
Good night.
