Hello and welcome to the whale song meditation.
I'm Jeannie J and I will be facilitating your sound meditation experience today.
So let's begin by imagining we are dimming the lights.
Observing our thoughts and taking a short break from our usual concerns.
Deciding to breathe a little slower now,
Allowing the muscles to feel a little softer now.
Becoming increasingly aware of each breath.
Breathing in,
Filling the body with air like a balloon.
Breathing out,
Completely emptying.
Fully breathing in and fully emptying out.
Breathing in and fully emptying out.
Breathing in and breathing out.
As you breathe in,
Become aware of the pause.
Aware of when you feel full of breath on the inhale and of this subtle shift to exhale.
Aware of when you feel completely emptied and naturally begin to inhale again.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Breathing out.
You're doing so well.
Continuing to breathe deeply.
Please call to mind a time when you felt completely satisfied.
Satisfied that you had done your best.
Maybe you were engaged in a favorite hobby and feeling a sense of satisfaction at each step along the way.
Or maybe you gave a project your best and it didn't turn out how you'd liked,
But still you were satisfied that you had done your best.
Just take a moment to recall the experience of satisfaction.
Recall all the details of this feeling,
Of this moment,
And allow the feeling of satisfaction and completion to come alive within you.
Very good.
Whatever the details of your memory,
Allow those details to begin to fade into the background as just the feeling of being naturally complete and satisfied continues to linger on.
For these next few breaths,
Allow just the feeling of deep satisfaction to be alive within you.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Observing how long you can sustain this feeling of satisfaction,
Infusing each breath with this feeling.
Oses You You You You're doing so very well You can begin now to allow the breath to return to normal and The practice of breathing with certain intention To begin to fade into the background As we begin to bring our practice to a close today We'll close with a sleep well story This is a story of a pod of humpback whales Humpback whales are massive mammals sometimes reaching sizes of 20 meters or more and Sometimes they migrate up to three thousand miles for their annual mating season often singing as they make the journey I I Can recall watching a documentary once about a group of scientists and videographers Who had somehow gained a very?
Rare opportunity to film the mating rituals of humpback whales they observed all of them in awe as what was at first the usual display of vocalizations and wailing sounds tail flapping and Grand leaps out of the water all turned into a violent display of dominance as a pack of males competed and fought for mating rights with one female and I mean they thought there was charging and bumping and grunting sometimes Inflicting deep gouges and the flesh and torn fins as they struggled But here's what really struck me After the epic battle the losing males didn't fade into the background Before they left They all swam in a giant circle around the swooning victor as he greeted the female and they sang to them They're singing striking deep striking deep and rich tones seemed to celebrate the pairing and They're singing seemed to celebrate That the species as a whole They had given their best and the only thing left to do was sing Wisdom of the ages flow through me you
