Hello and welcome to today's meditation.

Today you are going to take a journey to meet your inner guide and gain some clarity about a situation or challenge you're experiencing or perhaps a decision you're in the midst of making.

So bring yourself into a comfortable position now and close your eyes,

Inviting in a moment of stillness as you do so.

Allow your mind to begin to quiet down and bring your awareness to your breath.

Spending a few moments now becoming aware of your breath,

Tuning into your breath as you slow down and relax.

Begin now to consciously deepen your inhalation and lengthen your exhalation.

Breathing in deeply and breathing out slowly.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And as you begin to relax more and more now,

I'd like you to imagine yourself standing at the top of a beautiful white marble staircase.

Looking down as you begin to descend to the staircase,

You rest your hand on the smooth cool marble banister that runs down alongside the staircase.

On the way down you may see many things,

Perhaps a crystal chandelier reflecting beautiful colors or lush green plants,

Perhaps even some paintings,

Masterpieces on the walls or even a wonderful view through a window beyond.

And as I count down from 10 to 1,

You feel yourself going deeper and deeper relaxed,

Deeper down with each and every step you take down the stairs.

8,

Drifting deeper and deeper into calmness and relaxation.

7,

6,

5,

Deeper and deeper relaxed.

4,

3,

2,

1.

And as you reach the bottom of the stairs now,

You notice a door,

A large heavy wooden door that is closed.

But somehow you sense that there is someone special waiting for you in the room beyond.

You don't yet know who this will be or how they will appear,

You just have a very strong feeling that someone is there.

Perhaps you will instantly recognize this person or being,

Or perhaps not.

It may be a long time since you met,

It could even be someone whom you haven't yet met but who you have heard of a great many times.

What I do know is that whoever is waiting for you can help with the problems you've been experiencing or whatever it is that has been on your mind.

It is as though they have been sent by some unseen force to offer guidance or reassurance or clarity.

So when you are ready,

Make your way over to the door and push it open.

Push the door open with your mind and walk through,

Closing the door gently behind you.

You are now standing in the room beyond and it could be a little dark here at first.

If so,

Just allow yourself a moment or two as you become accustomed to this new place.

Soon you notice at the very far side of this room,

There is a table with two chairs around it.

Someone is sitting on one of the chairs with their back towards you.

So at the moment you cannot see who is there but I think you may already have a feeling,

A very strong feeling inside that you know who this is.

And as you begin to walk over to satisfy your curiosity,

Perhaps you begin to recognize slowly at first as their face comes into focus,

Who is there?

It might be someone you once knew and loved dearly,

A relative who has passed away.

If so,

You can embrace this person and feel once more their arms around you or perhaps sensing a particular fragrance you remember so well.

It may be someone you have not yet met but who will soon become a firm friend and you can extend your arms and greet your new friend,

Thanking them for coming to see you today.

And another possibility is that it could even be,

Instead of a separate person or entity,

It is a part of you that has been projected onto that chair,

An important part that you hadn't listened to before.

If this is so,

Then it makes the whole experience even more beneficial as this would mean it is your own personal inner advisor,

A part of you that knows you well,

Knows how you feel,

Knows how you react and all sorts of other things about you.

And perhaps you have recently been pondering something important to you.

Perhaps a question has played on your mind,

An uncertainty,

Or maybe there is something you have felt unable to disclose to someone else in its entirety.

Whatever it might be,

You can know that your confidence will be kept and nothing that occurs in this room will ever be repeated to anyone else unless you decide to do this.

There may be a decision to be made or it could be simple guidance that you require.

Whatever your problem is,

It is something important to you and you instinctively know that your visitor,

Who is sitting here,

Waiting for you,

Will do their very best to help.

You already know that your visitor is here to offer guidance and you have a very important question to ask of them.

Your visitor,

Your friend,

Your guide is here to provide you with a clue,

Perhaps even a solution to your problem.

At the very least,

It will surely provide a step forward.

So,

Begin to put your concern into words.

Ask your question,

Word it carefully in your mind and be clear on what you are asking and then wait for the answer.

And know that the answer may come as a word or a feeling,

A sensation or a symbol.

Perhaps a thought or idea or memory will spring into your mind,

Maybe now,

Maybe in a few moments,

Perhaps even later today when you realize its significance.

But for now,

Simply wait,

Be open and listen carefully for the response.

And now bring your attention back to my voice.

If you have said all that you wanted to and received satisfactory answers,

Then offer thanks to your visitor for coming through to you in this way.

And don't worry if you think of more questions later on.

Your inner advisor will never be very far.

They will always be here for you,

To help you,

To guide you whenever you need it.

All you need to do is to create a relaxed state of mind,

Putting away any thoughts or emotions before going inside yourself and asking the question and then wait for the response.

Just wait patiently,

Quietly,

Calmly,

Unexpectedly,

And the answer will always come flowing into your mind or present itself in some way.

Because each of us have within ourselves our own storehouse of knowledge or personal archives of untapped resources.

We often don't know how we know something,

But we really do know far more than we think we know.

You are no exception to this rule.

You can trust yourself and your wonderful subconscious mind.

So get ready now as I count up from one to five,

One to five,

Coming all the way back at the count of five.

One,

Two,

Three,

Coming slowly back,

Starting to move your body,

Becoming aware of your breath,

Four,

Your eyelids starting to open,

And five,

Eyes fully open,

Wide awake,

Mind and body returning to normal waking consciousness.

Welcome back,

Feeling empowered and full of inner wisdom.
