Life has taught me the value of simplicity.
I always thought I needed to add on more layers,
To build myself into a super machine,
And feel as if I was enough.
Simplicity is not about adding on,
But needing less,
And being aware of what is fundamental in your life.
What can you remove from your life to make it as simple as possible?
Imagine a bedroom filled with clutter,
Old papers on your desk,
Dirty clothes on the floor,
And books gaining dust on the shelf.
Most are unnecessary and occupy space.
The same goes for our minds.
If we continuously fill our minds with the unnecessary,
How can we have space to be present,
To value the simplest of things?
A question I ask myself,
Is this essential?
I connect this to speaking,
Writing,
Organization,
Relationships,
And life in general.
I have been following this method strictly for the last few months,
And it seems to be working.
Start by simplifying one thing,
And naturally it will spread out to other areas of your life.
I now challenge you to ask yourself,
What can I remove from my life that no longer serves a purpose?
Simplicity is a beautiful philosophy,
Give it a try.
Henry David Thoreau once said,
Our life is frittered away by detail.
Simplify,
Simplify.
