Typically, when we are drowning in negative emotions, we feel anxious and want to control other people. In this meditation, you will learn how to find your anxiety in your body instead of projecting it into the world. Once you accept that you are anxiously controlling, you can move into the warmth of your heart. When you shift your anxiety into the kindness in your heart, you can touch into the vulnerability of your original nature. Tending to your precious vulnerability meets the deeper emotional need underneath the anxious compulsion to control. Resting softly in your vulnerable heart is a way to transform your anxiety into self-love.

If you struggle with anxiety or worry that seems to have no cause,

Or that seems to come out of nowhere,

I'm going to invite you to take a few deep breaths,

Allowing yourself to inhale and exhale completely,

Breathing in all the way through your nose if you can,

And then breathing every last bit of air out of your body through your mouth on a very long exhale.

And again,

Breathing all the way in through your nose,

And now breathing every last bit of breath out of your body through your mouth.

Now,

Breathing as your body wants to breathe,

Just notice if there's something you need to do to make yourself more comfortable.

And when you feel ready,

Invite your awareness to shift from the outside world to the inside of yourself.

And once you are inside,

Start to feel around your body to notice where you might be feeling what seems like anxiety or worry.

You might feel tension in your neck and your shoulders,

For example,

Or you might feel tightness in your solar plexus.

And it is from these various tight places that we feel compelled to control ourselves,

Other people,

Or life in general.

So wherever you are feeling tension in your body,

Just be with that for a while,

Without trying to change it,

Without trying to control it.

And just noticing that being with these tensions for a minute longer,

Just getting to know yourself here.

Watching how,

From what seems like worry or anxiety,

As you wanting to control and change what is happening.

Just noticing this tension in your body,

Kindly,

Without trying to change it,

For about a minute now.

And now I invite you to take whatever tension,

In the form of worry or anxiety or fear,

From anywhere in your body.

And move it into your heart.

Just watch it travel from the various locations in your body to the center of your heart.

And just watch yourself gather up all this tension,

Along with the need to control and protect yourself,

And place it into the kindness of your heart.

And I will wait a few moments as you do this now.

Now as you sit in the seat of your heart,

I encourage you to invite your anxiety to transform inside the warmth of your heart.

Translating it into the vulnerability of your original nature,

Your original truth as a soul.

Such a precious vulnerability that innocently wants to love and be loved.

That wants to see and be seen.

That wants to hear and be heard.

And this vulnerability is the doorway to love,

Connection,

And freedom from the hurt and separation that we usually feel whenever we get lost in anxiety and worry.

And so perhaps you might like to place a gentle hand on your heart now,

With the kind understanding that most people do not want to feel this precious vulnerability in their hearts.

As it can feel too real,

Too raw,

Too honest.

And we have all learned how to be self-protective.

And so we try to control ourselves and others in order to feel safe.

So with your gentle hand on your heart,

I invite you to just familiarize yourself with the vulnerability that you feel there.

The precious vulnerability that does not need to guard and control.

And for a few moments,

I invite you to just feel your longing to love.

And your longing to be loved.

And to sense what it feels like to have a vulnerable heart again.

To have your original heart back.

The vulnerable and hopeful heart that you had as a young child.

And just centering into this original way of loving yourself and the world.

Your innocent,

Vulnerable heart.

And for a few moments now,

Just resting in your heart.

Imagining your heart as a newborn.

You are being newly born.

Into your original nature.

Into the original soul architecture of your heart.

Feeling the beauty and the beating of your beautiful heart.

And bringing everything in your body that feels fearful into your heart.

So occupied with old patterns of anxiety and control.

Waiting in your heart for the new to arrive.

And love is now establishing itself.

Much,

Much stronger than the fear.

Love is.

Love is.

Love is this.

Love is this.
