Honoring The Four Elements - A Celtic Mantra Blessing
In the Celtic tradition of honoring Mother Earth, we call in the blessings of the four elements of Air, Earth, Water, and Fire. In this practice, we will sing four mantras together. Each mantra invokes the elements honoring the life that we all share here on earth. As we honor these elements through these mantras, these songs, we are reminded of all the beauty that exists around us each day. May these Celtic blessings surround you!

Hi,
And thank you so much for joining me for our Celtic Mantra Blessing practice today.
I've divided it into the four elements of air,
Earth,
Water,
And fire.
As we honor these elements,
We also honor the life that these elements not only give us,
But also are given to us through our connection with Mother Earth.
Let's start now with the element of air.
Air represents not only that which we breathe,
But it represents the connection of ourselves with our plants and trees.
And in this connection,
May we honor that we are breathing together.
In our mantra practice,
We'll be singing the following mantra.
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the silent stars.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth.
May peace,
May peace,
May peace fill your soul.
Let peace,
Let peace,
Let peace make you whole.
And as we move into the time of honoring each breath we take,
I'll open with a poem by Mary Oliver called Wild Geese.
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair,
Yours,
And I will tell you about mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebble of soft rain are moving across the landscapes over the prairies and the deep trees,
The mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese high in the clean blue air are heading home again.
Whoever you are,
No matter how lonely,
The world offers itself to your imagination,
Calls to you like the wild geese,
Harsh and exciting,
Over and over announcing your place in the family of all things.
Now we sing,
Deep Peace of the Running Wave to you together.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the silent stars.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth.
May peace,
May peace,
May peace fill your soul.
Let peace,
Let peace,
Let peace make you whole.
Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the silent stars.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth.
May peace,
May peace,
May peace fill your soul.
Let peace,
Let peace,
Let peace make you whole.
Take a deep breath in,
And exhale.
And now the next element that we will honor in this Celtic blessing time is that of Earth.
As we honor the element of Earth,
We call into our awareness all the beauty and bounty that our Mother holds for us,
Not only in beautiful trees,
Plants,
Flowers,
But also in the bounty of the food that she grows in her soil.
Today we will be singing for the element of Earth this mantra.
Blessed is your beauty,
Blessed is your bounty,
Blessed are your children who thank you on this day.
Gaia,
Gaia,
Praises Gaia,
Gaia,
Gaia praises to thee.
And I'll be doing a reading by John O'Donohue to call in the Earth element.
May the nourishment of the Earth be yours.
May the clarity of light be yours.
May the fluency of the ocean be yours.
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you,
An invisible cloak to mind your life.
Take a deep breath in,
And exhale.
As we move into our mantra honoring the Earth element.
Blessed is your beauty,
Blessed is your bounty,
Blessed are your children who thank you on this day.
Blessed is your beauty,
Blessed is your bounty,
Blessed are your children who thank you on this day.
Gaia,
Gaia,
Praises Gaia,
Gaia,
Gaia praises to thee.
Gaia,
Gaia,
Praises Gaia,
Gaia,
Gaia praises to thee.
Blessed is your beauty,
Blessed is your bounty,
Blessed are your children who thank you on this day.

Glad is your beauty,
Blessed is your bounty,
Blessed are your children who thank you on this day.

Gaia,

Praises Gaia,

Praises to Thee.

Praises to Thee.
Blessed is your beauty,

Praises to Thee.
Gaia,
Gaia,
Praises Gaia,
Gaia,
Gaia,
Praises to Thee.
Gaya,
Gaya,
Praises Gaya.
Gaya,
Gaya,
Praises to Thee.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
As we have honored the air and the earth now,
We honor the element of water,
Of which no life could exist without this element.
For we ourselves are made up of 70% water.
So as we honor the element of water that exists on our Mother Earth,
Her oceans,
Lakes,
And rivers,
We also honor this that moves through us,
Connecting our bodies to hers.
We'll be singing this mantra together to honor the element of water.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing,
The river is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
And as we sing this mantra together,
We'll imagine being held in the waters of life.
I'll read the song of American,
The first Irish poem.
I am the wind which breathes upon the sea.
I am the wave of the ocean.
I am the murmur of the billows.
I am the ox.
I am the seagull upon the rocks.
I am the beam of sun.
I am the fairest of plants.
I am the valor of wilderness.
I am a salmon swimming in the water.
I am the word of science.
I am the pointed steel of clarity.
I am the fire of creation.
I see the light upon the mountain,
The ages of the moon,
Teaching us our place in the world.
Take a deep breath in and exhale.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river she is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river she is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river she is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river she is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
The river she is flowing,
Flowing and growing.
The river she is flowing down to the sea.
Mother carry me,
Your child I'll always be.
Mother carry me down to the sea.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
And now as we have honored the air,
Earth and water elements,
We call in the element of the sun,
Honoring that light which guides our life.
By honoring the element of fire,
We recognize the importance of this light as it hits our Mother Earth,
Feeds her the light that allows the plants to grow deep in her earth that are fed by the water,
And grow the trees and plants that allow us to breathe,
Creating this continuous cycle of life.
And today we'll honor the sun with this mantra.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
May all love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
And to bring us into the mantra,
I'll read this poem,
A traditional Irish blessing.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
The rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May spirit hold you in her loving hands.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
May the long time sun shine upon you.
All love surround you.
And the pure light within you guide your way home.
Guide your way home.
Guide your way home.
Guide your way home.
And take a deep breath in.
And exhale.
Thank you so much today for joining me,
Honoring our Mother Earth and all the elements which gift our lives each day.
The air we breathe,
The water we drink,
The earth that we grow life in,
And the sun that shines upon us.
I'd like to close this Celtic blessing time with a poem by John O'Donohue.
It's called For Beauty.
A stillness in stone to silence is wed.
May solitude foster your truth in word.
As a river flows in ideal sequence,
May your soul reveal where time is presence.
As the moon absolves the dark of distance,
May your style of thought bridge the difference.
As the breath of light awakens color,
May the dawn anoint your eyes with wonder.
As spring rain softens the earth with surprise,
May your winter places be kissed by light.
As the ocean dreams to the joy of dance,
May the grace of change bring you elegance.
As clay anchors a tree in light and wind,
May your outer life grow from peace within.
As twilight pervades the belief of night,
May beauty sleep lightly within your heart.
May these four elements of life,
Air,
Water,
Earth,
And fire,
Continue to bring you many blessings throughout your day,
Your week,
Your month.
Thank you once again for joining me,
And have a beautiful and blessed day.
Namaste.
