Welcome,
Listener.
I invite you to become comfortable.
Maybe you're lying down or you're in a reclined seat.
If you can just allow yourself to be about five to ten percent more comfortable than you are now,
Take a moment to just move around,
Settle in.
Then take a slow,
Deep breath in and gently exhale.
Feel the weight of your body sinking into the surface beneath you.
With every breath,
Allow yourself to settle just a little deeper,
Surrendering to the quiet embrace of this moment.
The day is done.
There is nowhere to be and nothing to do.
Now is the time to let go.
As you inhale,
Imagine drawing a soft,
Warm light,
One that soothes,
Comforts and restores.
As you exhale,
Release any tension still held in your body.
Feel it melt away,
Dissolving into the night.
Let your awareness travel down to your feet.
Soften them.
Let go of the day's steps,
The places that you've been.
In your hips,
Release the effort of standing,
Of moving,
Of holding.
Let yourself be held now.
Breathe into your belly.
Feel it rise and fall,
Gentle like the tide.
No need to hold it in.
No need to keep it tense.
Let it be soft.
Let it be free.
Soften your shoulders,
Letting them drop away from your ears.
Let your arms rest heavy at your sides.
Your hands,
Your fingers.
There's nothing to grasp,
Nothing to hold on to.
Let everything be light and effortless.
Bring your awareness to your face.
Unclench your jaw.
Let your tongue rest softly in your mouth.
Smooth your forehead.
Feel the stillness wrap around you like a warm blanket.
The world will continue to turn.
The sun will rise again.
But right now,
You are safe in the dark,
Cradled by the rhythm of your breath.
Surrender to the stillness.
Let yourself be carried into rest,
Into dreams,
Into the deep healing waters of sleep.
