From Shame Pinata,
I'm Colleen Thomas.
This is Daily Magic for Peace.
Today we will send the light of hope to those in need.
Welcome to the circle.
Hello and welcome.
It's another day and another chance to be in circle with you.
The item you will need today is a candle.
So if you have one handy,
I invite you to grab it.
And if you'd rather just imagine one,
That's totally fine.
I have an electric candle because I get headaches from smoke.
So this is my kind of candle today.
We can turn it on.
That's the sound.
I'd like to invite you to pause the episode if you'd like to go grab a candle or a cup of coffee.
So as we settle in,
I invite you to look around and notice the physical space that you're in and invite you to realize that you're also in a metaphysical space with all of us,
With our candles sitting with you in this circle,
Focusing our prayers,
Our love,
And our magic for the peoples of Ukraine and Russia.
So the first thing we're going to do today is notice the sounds around us.
How many things can you hear?
If you're using headphones,
Maybe take one ear out so you can hear my voice and your ambient space.
And I invite you to take a breath.
And as you take a breath,
I invite you to connect a little more deeply with your body and maybe start a body scan from the top of your head,
Scanning slowly down your body,
Your head and your neck and your shoulders,
Your chest and your arms and your stomach,
Hips,
Legs and feet.
And notice any tension you feel in any part of your body.
Maybe scan back through again.
And as you scan,
I invite you to also begin to connect to the earth,
Build a grounding cord,
Create a sense of grounding of connecting down to the earth.
And just say hello to any bits of tension you notice.
Greet them with love and affection and curiosity and see if they're interested in beginning to release down this cord.
They may not be interested,
They may be interested.
You can give them a place to go,
A place to release,
And if you feel them beginning to release,
You might fill in any space they leave behind with love,
With presence,
With care,
With gratitude.
Fill up that space with something good,
With something that you intend it to be filled with.
So I invite you to pick up your candle and hold it in your hand or maybe hold it in your mind's eye and just notice,
Notice the qualities of this flame,
This representation of passion and new beginnings and hope.
That phrase,
It's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness,
Has been in my head today.
We can look at this light and imagine it being in our heart,
The way hope grows in our heart,
In that sheltered place where sometimes it's scary to let it grow.
It's scary to have hope because we've had disappointment and loss and there's been fear and pain.
Inside of us there is hope and if you feel inside and you just don't feel any hope right now,
You might call on the numinous gods and goddesses or your ancestors or whatever deities you work with or nature spirits or the spirit of the earth herself to lend you some hope to send out today.
When you have a kind of felt sense on that hope and what it feels like in your body,
In your heart or that hope you're borrowing,
I invite you to just let it grow a little bit.
Let this flame grow with your hope.
Let it represent your hope.
Gathering of this hope that we have is a circle and sending it to the people of Ukraine and Russia,
Brightening the hope in their hearts and the hope of the people around the world who are connected to them through friendship or kinship or love,
The people who care about them and are maybe really worried about them.
We want to send hope to every heart connected with people in Ukraine which is honestly I think most of the world right now.
So sending out hope to the entire world but especially to the people who are on the front lines,
Who are in the basements,
Who are in the buildings,
Who are running,
Who are on the trains,
Anybody affected by this situation.
Increasing their hope just by one level,
Just enough to get them through another day and then the day after and the day after.
Sending our hope,
Sending our love,
Sending the light of our candle and so it is.
Thank you so much for being with us today.
Your presence,
Your energy and your heart make all the difference in healing our world.
Remember to breathe today.
Breathe and expand and I really hope you join us next time and please consider inviting a friend.
That's it for Daily Magic for a piece.
Our music is by Terry Hughes.

Thanks for listening.
