Now that the first 100 episodes of Daily Magic for Peace are out in the world,

I want to thank you for taking time out of your day to focus on peace,

To center in peace.

This work we are doing is sacred,

Profound,

And so very needed.

This month we will be revisiting some of our most popular episodes.

I'm Colleen Thomas.

Welcome to the best of Daily Magic for Peace.

Today we will delve into the healing power of music.

Welcome to the circle.

So the only thing you need today is a pair of headphones or whatever you listen to music on.

I welcome you to the circle today.

I welcome you to find your seat and join me in taking a breath.

To calm the nervous system today,

I would like to do some shaking with you.

So I invite you to do this whatever way feels good to you in the space you're in.

If you're in public,

Maybe move to whatever degree is comfortable for you.

And if you're not in public and you're free to move your body,

I invite you to just do a little shaking and start off real gently,

Maybe with your hands,

Your arms,

Maybe shake your shoulders.

You might experiment with putting your hands above you and shaking them,

Shaking your arms,

Your chest,

Your hips,

And maybe your head just real gently,

Just gently shaking,

Gently waking up your body.

Breathing a bit.

Shaking off the day,

Shaking off anything you don't need,

And bringing your shaking to a close.

And just noticing how your body feels,

How your body might feel different now than it did a minute ago.

And as you are standing or sitting or lying on whatever you're standing or sitting or lying on,

Let's give that thing a little bit more of our weight and dropping down,

Trusting the planet,

Just a little bit more in this moment,

Reaching down into the earth,

Down toward the center of the planet with a grounding cord or root or whatever you like to imagine,

And beginning to release anything you don't need in this moment.

And beginning to bring that earth energy up,

Inviting it up through your earth star chakra beneath you and your first chakra at the base of your spine where you are grounded and connected,

Through your second chakra at your belly where there's flow and there's juiciness and connection in your life,

And the third chakra at your solar plexus where you can be bold and strong and do the things that need to be done in life,

And up into your heart where there's love and connection and openness and joy,

And into your fifth chakra at your throat,

Your throat center where you speak your truth and you can say the hard things and you can say the loving things,

And up into your sixth chakra at your third eye where you see clearly in a way that is beyond space and time,

Up to your seventh chakra at the crown of your head where you're connected to all that is above,

Your higher self,

Any gods or goddesses or guides you work with,

And then up to the eighth chakra which is kind of all the chakras above it,

Which is off of your body a couple feet above your head and it is where you connect to the celestial energies,

And going on up,

You can let that cord just continue right on up to the center of the universe,

Extending it out,

Connecting up as you connect it down,

And find yourself floating between the worlds,

And when you're ready,

See if you'd like to bring some of that cosmic energy down,

Back down this line,

Down all through your chakras,

Down into the earth,

So that you are running earth energy up and cosmic energy down,

And find yourself floating in the space,

And release any cords that might be attached to you psychically from anybody,

Anywhere,

Anything,

Anywhere,

Just release into the fullness that is you,

Blossoming into the fullness that is you empowered by earth and sky,

Releasing anything that is not you,

Releasing anything you don't need in this moment,

And while you're in this beautiful connected space,

I would like to bring our attention to the concept of music,

Think about the times in your life when music has moved you,

Music is actually the way we express emotion,

Because it is so heart connected,

It is so heart centered,

It is so evocative and emotive,

And it's just,

It's beyond words,

Music is how we communicate,

One of the ways we communicate beyond words,

So I'd like to do something kind of different with you today,

I would like to ask you in a moment to stop this podcast,

And to change over to a music source,

And put in both your headphones,

Or get the best surround type sound you can for yourself,

And play yourself a song,

Maybe play yourself a song you haven't heard in a while,

Pick something that you know will resonate with your heart,

And the invitation is to just stay in this presence,

Stay in this earth,

Sky,

Between the worlds vibe,

And listen to that music and really let it filter through you,

And see how it feels.

So stopping the podcast now,

I'm going to join you in doing this,

And we'll be back to unpack this together.

So,

Did you do it?

Did you stop the podcast and listen to a song?

It's okay if you didn't.

If you did do it though,

Notice how you feel now.

Notice how your body feels.

Notice how the cells feel throughout your body.

Can you feel them?

Can you feel ones you couldn't feel before?

Does your body feel more alive?

If you had some kind of cathartic release or some emotional connection,

How has that changed how you're feeling?

If you had any other kind of reaction to the music,

Or to a distraction that prevented you from listening to the music,

Just notice how that feels in this moment.

This is my invitation for you for today.

If you didn't take the time to listen to a song,

Take some time today.

Give it a try.

And if you did take the time and listen to the song,

Try it again tomorrow.

See what it feels like to intentionally listen to something and let your body come alive.

These amazing composers are kind of like magicians,

Right?

They took their skill and their talent and mixed it with their heart,

And they produced this beautiful piece of music.

And what if we listen to it with as much presence and openness and love as possible to let it really land in us?

Isn't that a gift to them and to us?
