Hi,
This is Michelle Morrison and this is a meditation for the root chakra,
Muladhara chakra.
The root chakra is all about feeling support,
Stability and groundedness,
Feeling safe in this world.
So to begin,
Let's find a comfortable seat,
Spine is long and shoulders relaxed.
Alternatively,
You might like to lie on the earth,
The body heavy,
Feeling the support.
If it's safe for you to do so,
Close your eyes slightly and gently and take a slow natural breath in and out.
Keeping these slow natural breaths,
Bring your attention now to focus inwards towards the Muladhara chakra,
The tip of the spine in the tailbone.
As you breathe in and out,
Just letting the air flow gently through,
You might imagine a red circle at the tip of the tailbone.
As you breathe in and out,
Feeling the support beneath you of the earth,
Slowing the mind down.
You might also like to imagine that you're lying or seated on the red dirt of the earth and that you can smell the beautiful earth smell.
The seed sound of the root chakra is Lum.
As you breathe in,
Feel all the space you can create with that in-breath.
As you breathe out,
Gently say to yourself,
Lum.
And focus your attention at the tip of the tailbone.
Keep going,
Breathing in,
Breathing out and chanting Lum as you focus the base of your spine.
If thoughts should come,
Just let them drift through your mind like a cloud in the sky.
As you continue to chant Lum on the exhale,
Gently focus on the tip of the tailbone.
Now,
As you continue to breathe in and chant Lum on the exhale,
As you focus on the tip of the tailbone,
You might move your tip of the thumb and tip of the index finger together on both hands.
This is Prativimudra.
Prativimudra,
Which is really all about promoting stability and inner strength.
So now as you breathe in and chant Lum on the exhale and focus your attention gently at the tip of the tailbone,
You're holding this mudra.
Ring,
Finger and thumb touching.
Gently release the mudra,
Soft hands.
Continue breathing in and out,
Chanting Lum.
Attention at the tip of the tailbone.
And then gently let the chant go.
Still breathing in and out,
Feeling the hands,
Feeling the feet,
Feeling the sensations all through the body.
Noticing if there's any sensations in the tip of the tailbone.
Around the back of the hips,
The sides of the hips.
Gently rub your hands together until the palms start feeling hot.
And gently place your hands cupping the eyes,
Very softly,
So just over the eyes.
And notice the warmth of your hands,
Relaxing the muscles around the eyes.
And then one last time,
Take a breath in and chant Lum.
I hope you feel more grounded and safe in this world.
Until the next time,
Take care.
