This is a short meditation to help you tap into enthusiasm and willpower.

Start wherever you are,

Comfortable,

Seated or perhaps lying down.

And bring your attention to your natural breath.

Breathe in and out through the nose.

Notice that you are alive.

You are filled with breath,

Full of life.

Now imagine yourself performing one of the tasks of your day.

Whether that's brushing your teeth,

Preparing your breakfast.

Or a work-related task,

Perhaps involving your hands or connecting with colleagues.

Imagine your posture.

And imagine yourself doing this task,

This activity,

With a little extra enthusiasm.

Now I don't mean,

Oh,

Goodness gracious,

I'm brushing my teeth.

No,

Just intentional enthusiasm.

Like,

Wow,

I am brushing my teeth.

Think about the purpose of why you brush your teeth.

Or why you cook your breakfast.

Or why you're in this meeting and connecting with colleagues for the work that you do.

Feel yourself acting this out in your mind.

With enthusiasm and intention.

Now imagine if you approached your entire day with this extra ounce of enthusiasm.

Performing each task and activity.

Arriving at each conversation with enthusiasm.

Now I don't mean to say that you won't be tired or that your energy levels will be high the entire day.

In fact,

You'll feel the natural highs and lows.

But you can still meet your day and your tasks with enthusiasm.

Sometimes the body loves action.

Movement,

Playing,

Running,

Walking.

And sometimes the body loves rest.

Imagine if you greeted your moments of rest with enthusiasm.

And took that same enthusiasm into each and every moment of your day.

And what if this enthusiasm in your day,

In your life,

Opened up the possibility that you could feel more of life.

Of emotions,

Of connection.

Remember,

The opposite of enthusiasm is indifference.

My wish for you is to approach your day,

Not with indifference,

But with enthusiasm.

To experience all of the joys,

All of the terrors,

The highs,

The lows and everything in between.

So that your life is filled with a tapestry of experiences.

Now take a moment and look at the space around you.

Open your eyes.

And before you move,

Look around.

Look at the tapestry,

The colors and the shapes of this world that you live in.

This space.

This item in it,

Carefully chosen and placed there by someone,

Perhaps you.

Maybe you catch sight of a picture or a piece of art you have in the room.

Perhaps as you gaze around,

There may be one or two items that you feel,

Oh,

Those are out of place.

Or perhaps you just don't feel connected with them.

They don't bring you joy or you don't feel a sense of purpose or enthusiasm for that item anymore.

Leave it for now.

And tomorrow,

When you do this meditation again,

Look at it.

See if you feel differently about it.

If not,

Change it,

Move it.

And if you can smile at it,

Then keep it.

Appreciating your surroundings and approaching your space,

Your home,

Your life with enthusiasm can bring so much to your day.

Notice your breath,

Confirmation that you're alive.

Now go forth with enthusiasm and experience all of what this day has to offer you.
