This meditation is based upon Psalm 9 verse 1.
Let us begin our meditation by being still.
Quiet your mind.
Slow your spirit.
Relax your body.
If you feel safe and comfortable to do so,
I invite you to close your eyes.
Adopt an attitude of gratitude and non-judgment.
And embrace a heart and mindset of chassid,
Or peace and loving kindness.
And once your heart is full of gratitude,
I invite you to put your hands in front of you,
Palms up,
Slightly cupped,
In a receiving position.
And repeat this very simple prayer from Psalm 9,
Either out loud or silently in your head and heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
The name Yahweh represents compassion and grace.
Let us keep that in mind as we repeat this prayer.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
With all my heart.
With all my heart.
I'd like you to think of one thing you're grateful for.
It doesn't have to be a big thing.
It can be,
But it doesn't have to be.
It could be something as simple as what you had for dinner last night,
Or your coffee this morning.
Now,
Picture it in your mind as though Yahweh is handing it to you,
Placing it in your hands.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
And now,
Let's just take a moment to hold it in our hands,
This symbol of gratitude.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
Now,
While imagining you are holding your gratitude in your hands,
I invite you to place your hands and that image of gratitude on your heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
Let's just sit here for a moment,
With our hands on our hearts,
Focused on gratitude,
Focused on Yahweh,
Focused on Yahweh,
Placing gratitude on and in our hearts.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
And now,
Let's lift our hands to the heavens.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
With your eyes still closed,
Lift your chin so your face is tilted slightly toward the sky.
Smile,
And repeat this prayer again.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
The Passion translation puts it this way,
I will worship you Yahweh,
With extended hands.
My whole heart erupts with praise.
I will worship you Yahweh,
With extended hands.
My whole heart erupts with praise.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
With all my heart.
With all my heart.
And as this meditation comes to a close,
Feel free to lower your hands to the natural position and open your eyes.
I encourage you to keep this spirit of gratitude on your heart as you go through your day and week.
I thank you Yahweh,
With my whole heart.
I thank you Yahweh,
With extended hands.
I thank you Yahweh,
With extended hands.
