Hey Harkiners,
Welcome to our Bible Meditations for Mental Health series.
Today's meditation is on panic.
As we enter into meditation,
I invite you to close your eyes.
Notice that by simply closing our eyes,
Our minds automatically get quieter.
Bodies become more relaxed,
Our spirit becomes more still.
Let's enter this meditation with this spirit of stillness,
An attitude of gratitude and non-judgment,
And a heart and mindset of peace.
And loving kindness.
Panic is a sudden,
Intense fear that floods the mind and body.
It can steal breath.
Shake the heart.
And convince us we are in danger.
Even when nothing around us has changed.
Panic can feel like losing control.
Yet God remains steady.
Let's take a moment to meditate on a few scripture passages that can help us in times of panic.
When anxiety was great within me.
Your comfort brought me joy.
Psalm 9419.
Will not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day.
Psalm 91,
Verse 5.
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid or terrified,
For Adonai goes with you.
I don't know how it goes with you.
God will never leave you nor forsake you.
God will never leave you.
Nor forsake you.
Deuteronomy.
Thirty-one verse six.
Panic tries to convince us we are unsafe.
But scripture reminds us that God's comfort is stronger than fear.
Even when terror rises suddenly.
God does not leave.
God holds us steady.
Calms the rising storm.
And replaces distress with courage.
Adonai.
When panic rises like fire in my chest.
Surround me with your calm.
Slow my breath.
Steady my heart.
Remind me.
You are here.
And I am safe.
In your presence.
Amen.
Thank you for sharing this tender,
Sacred space with me,
My fellow Hearkeners.
I look forward to guiding you again soon.
And until then.
.
.
And grace and peace.
Light and love.
Be with you.
