Sound Bath Sessions 229: Naoko Kawachi
I flew to Tokyo from Kagoshima, where I would stay for the next three days. My first recording was with Naoko in the Otomesando area at around 6 am. Her space was in a residential area, and people were still sleeping as the sun just started to light up the sky. I thought it would be interesting to explore the idea of 'awakening' as a concept for the sessions- both in what was played and what was heard in the surrounding area. The second session seems a little lopsided because Naoko's bowls are grouped so that the higher notes are on the left. This song did not really use any lower tone bowls. I initially thought it was a mistake in the recording, but when I realized this, I thought it would be interesting to preserve the original sound.
