Sound Bath Sessions 183: Kenji Azuma
Kenji Azuma is a multi-instrumentalist, musician, and composer. I was intrigued by his posts playing outside in nature and his performances collaborating with other musicians. I was so happy that he agreed to be a part of the project. After lunch I met him in Ebara, a sleepy residential area. The new community center there had two recording studio rooms that were very quiet even with the full height glass wall. He used the piano in the space and brought his handpan, computer, and a pair of beautiful sounding speakers that his friend designed. Kenji is a brand ambassador for Meinl and gives performances using their instruments. Kenji's sessions were musical and calm much like his own personality. His tracks evoke nostalgia and dreams. They are wonderful improvised experiences. Kenji played the piano and handpan in this acoustic, solemn track. A soundtrack of life. Trust. Memory. Connection.
