This practice focuses on helping you to extend kindness to yourself in the job search process as you visualize your future career desires.
Find a space where you can be uninterrupted and settle into a comfortable position.
You could be seated in a chair with your feet firmly on the ground.
You might be seated on a cushion on the floor or lying in the comfort of your couch or your bed.
And if you like,
You can close your eyes or keep them slightly open,
Looking downward a few feet in front of you with a soft focus.
Let's see if you can find a way to be slightly more comfortable in whatever position you find yourself.
Let's begin by bringing your attention to your breath.
You may notice your abdomen or your chest rising and falling,
Or feel the sensation of air coming into your body as you breathe in and the exhale that follows.
Or maybe a sense of your whole body breathing.
Wherever that sensation is most alive for you,
Just allow your attention to rest there.
And whenever you notice your mind wandering,
Just bring your attention gently back to this feeling of breathing.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Take a few moments to consider your intention in doing this practice.
What's most important to you in your job search?
How is it that you want to feel?
Allow yourself to want what you want without limitations.
Extend these wishes to yourself.
May I be secure and happy.
May I be engaged in my work.
May I have fulfilling relationships.
May I be of service in my work.
May I make steady progress.
And now bring to mind a picture of success in your journey.
Whatever that means for you.
You might think to yourself,
I wake up every morning full of energy.
Everything I need is already within me.
I am already enough.
I stay deeply relaxed and centered and everything is accomplished easily and effortlessly.
And now let's sit quietly and focus on our breath for the last few moments together.
Just be aware of whatever arises for you.
And gently as you're ready,
Opening your eyes,
Fully returning your awareness to your surroundings.
And just noticing how you're feeling.
