Kia ora and good evening.
This is a sleep story from the wild west coast of Aotearoa New Zealand.
You've been visiting Wainaroa Ragland and you're ready to make your way to your accommodation to settle down to sleep for the night.
You've spent a beautiful day on the coast in Ragland and now you're driving on the road and heading out of Ragland towards Te Mata.
The town of Wainaroa Ragland has brought joy to you today.
The wild west coast beach was stunning.
You potted through the shops and now with some fresh lemons and local honey amongst your purchases you continue driving down the road making your turn right towards Te Mata.
You're guided further along.
It's not far until you reach your road to turn down on the left and here shortly afterwards you slow down as you meet gravel.
It's a twisting and turning road.
You pass a few rural houses.
You've made your way away from the coast and into farmland.
As you drive you pass by some native ferns.
You put your windows down slightly to embrace the birdsong.
You keep driving and it's not long until you reach the end of the road and there's a sign that says cabin and you know you are not far away.
You head down the driveway and here is your cabin for the night.
It's an off-grid solar-powered residence.
You park up and head inside to explore.
The key is in the door.
They've been expecting you.
You're a host.
And as you look out the window and step onto the deck you look out towards the stunning expanse of the ocean.
The roots of nature,
The rolling hills,
Some sheep and some cows in the paddocks and you look out to the stunning view of the local Mount Carioi.
In the distance you see the sun beginning to move closer to the horizon.
As it gets chillier you head inside using the fresh firewood and kindling to start to make a fire.
You scrunch up some paper from the local rag newspaper.
You use the kindling and a nearby lighter to start the base of your fire all over.
You collect your lemons and your honey from the car and you turn on the gas in the kitchen to heat up some water for a warming hot drink.
You return to the fire and the flames have caught nicely to the kindling.
It's ready for a small log.
You hear the pot lids beginning to dance and you know now that the water is about to boil.
You head towards the kitchen and turn off the element and you find your favourite mug from the assortment in the cupboard.
You catch one of the lemons and squeeze fresh lemon juice using a juicer to then pour onto your favourite mug you've chosen.
You easily open your new jar of honey and pop a spoonful into the mug.
You carefully pour that warm hot water at the perfect temperature to be able to drink.
You stir your cuppa leaving the spoon behind and you head back out towards the view you want to cherish it a little longer and you take a seat to enjoy the sunset as you sip this warming wintery bubbler through this nourishing drink as local ingredients the lemon and the honey warms your body from the inside you take a few sips and the gift that you were given on the note with instructions on where to find the bath you make your way with the bath salts and bubble bath out the door you came in you make your right and touch in a cosy corner as an outdoor bath you pop down your gifts and a smile comes to your face as you start to turn the taps letting the hot water run and letting some cold water come into the tub to balance it out you swish around a little bit of water in the bowl and put in the plug you open the bubble bath and it's your favourite scent how did they know you pour in some of the mixture from the jar close the lid and then pick up the jar of bath salts and sprinkle these in to let the water continue to flow the large tub will take a little while to fill you collect your overnight bag from the car in your bag of food you take the food to the kitchen and your overnight bag to your room and you return once more towards the deck outside this time picking up a blanket from the inside sofa as you sit down and return to your warm lemon honey drink just coming towards sunset that round sun moving towards the horizon in the distance you appreciate the stunning colours the light sky the peachy orange the dusky pink the blue in the sky as the sun sets further beneath the horizon outside it's even chillier than it was before and you've now finished your drink you return inside leaving your soft warm blanket on the couch you return your mug to the kitchen and prepare for your bath you head to the room where you were staying and on the bed exactly as you need as a bathrobe and towel you get changed into the bathrobe picking up the towel sake with you feeling that it must be time to return to your bath in perfect timing you first stop to check on the fire you stoke the fire and add another log you blow gently as the flames catch closing the door once again letting it warm the space with the sun now set you pull the curtains grateful to have enjoyed the view and excited to see it once more in the morning and for now you head back out towards the outdoor bath that beautiful cast iron tub so large and welcoming as felt perfectly almost to the top and not quite you move your rope and hang your towel up as you slowly ease your way into the perfectly temperate bath you adjust the tap slightly turning off the cold one last burst of a little bit more heat and turning that one off too your body settles and relaxes and here in the darkness of the night now you recline into a softness you exhale any stress from the day letting this water hold you and nourish you surrounded by your favourite scent as you look up you smile and wonder up at the Milky Way this collection of stars above you bringing wonder and delight the beauty of the night sky capturing you and you bask in its beauty and then you spot the Southern Cross your eyes scan the skies for how the stars stand out to you relaxing in this bathtub the bath salts helping relax your muscles a pit of air to refrain you are glad that you are safe and warm in this large bathtub you are able to disperse most of your body so that only your head remains above the water as the pitter patter of rainfall falls lightly on your face relaxing and dropping any tension out of your face you marvel at the wonders of nature the rain eases although you know more is coming your body feels clean and nourished you give some loving touch to your body a message of your couch and arms you spread around the bubbles getting one last time to enjoy the bath for this evening as the bed is weakening you even more you pull out the plug letting the water start to drop away and recede you step out of the bath drying your body with the towel wrapping yourself in the bath rope and making your way back inside as it starts to rain you find a couple of pillows popped down in front of the fire you lay down your towel and you lay here warming your body giving more massaging touch and giving loving appreciation for this body your home for this life and as one side of your body gets warm you get up to turn around to share around that warmth to the other side of your body the warmth of the fire heating your naked body you feel safe and secure inside the sun sets the way is lit and soft lighting by Himalayan salt lamps as your body warms feeling toasty and ready for these you start the fire and add one more log and you head towards your bedroom hanging your towel and robe behind the door deciding what to wear to bed and then making your way under the crisp fresh sheets you let your body settle into the comfort of the bed mentally tick off knowing the car is locked that your cabin is locked you are safe and secure and then you begin the body scan starting from the head down to the feet your body relaxing just at your attention as you scan and notice not needing to change anything and that noticing is you bring attention from the top of your head scanning down moving past your forehead to your ears down your face moving slowly down to your neck you witness your body and it softens further tension dropping away from your shoulders as you scan your awareness slowly down your chest and your back not needing to change anything bringing awareness to what you notice not making it right or wrong and noticing a restfulness a softening as you give yourself your own loving presence scanning past your hips down to your legs down your calves finally to your feet you let your body feel heavy softening and sinking further if you were Goldilocks you would affect this one as just right feeling safe and content you let your body slowly ease and just sway letting an intention for a restful and nourishing night sleep you'd wake in the morning with joy in your heart
