Welcome.
I'm glad you're here.
My name is Sarah and I will be your guide this evening.
Before we begin,
Take a slow look around the room that you're in.
Let your eyes move gently from one thing to another.
A color,
A shape.
Just something familiar.
You've made it to the end of the day.
That already counts for something.
Find a position that feels kind to your body right now.
Lying down or seated.
With your back supported.
A blanket if you want one.
Warm socks.
Whatever helps you feel settled.
And as we move through this practice.
If any sensation feels like too much.
Just open your eyes and look around the room.
This is always available to you.
Let's begin.
Your body might be running still at the speed of this morning.
You may have closed the laptop.
You finished the last thing.
You walk through the door.
.
.
But your nervous system doesn't know the day is over.
It might still be braced,
Still ready,
Still carrying it.
The day is done.
Don't have to carry it any further.
Think of dusk.
The way the land shifts when the light begins to leave.
The field,
Releasing the heat it held all day.
The animals returning to their dens.
Everything slowing.
Not stopping,
But settling.
That is what we're doing here.
Not switching off.
Not performing relaxation.
Settling.
Let's take a breath together.
And on the exhale,
A little longer than the inhale,
Let something go.
It doesn't have to be everything,
It can be a minor thing that occurred today.
Something that still sits with you.
Just let it go.
Again.
Breathe in.
.
.
And let the exhale be a slow release like the field at dusk.
Feel the ground beneath you,
The surface that is holding you.
You don't have to hold yourself up anymore,
Not in this moment.
Let the ground do that.
The earth beneath you doesn't need you to be productive.
She needs you to just arrive.
Now let's focus for a moment on your shoulders.
This is where the day lives Notice what's there right now.
Is there any tension?
Perhaps some heaviness?
Maybe a quiet holding,
Just notice it.
You've been carrying something today.
Breathe into this area.
And let go.
Now I'd like you to breathe in and let your shoulders rise just slightly.
And on the exhale,
Let them fall.
Not pushed down,
Just released.
Let gravity do the work.
And again.
Rise on the inhale.
And fall on the exhale.
Then repeat this cycle.
For three more times.
Now let's focus on your neck.
The back of your neck where the tension quietly lives without announcement.
Sends into it.
Is it tight?
Does it feel neutral?
Does it feel tender perhaps?
Whatever is there.
It belongs.
Now gently let your head make the smallest tilt to one side,
Just a few degrees.
And slowly back to center.
Your body orienting.
Checking and finding what is safe for you now.
And if there's any spontaneous movement that wants to occur.
Just do that.
Now let's slowly focus our attention towards your jaw.
Think of all the conversations you held today.
Every word considered,
Every response measured.
Your jaw knows all of it.
Just notice what sensations are there.
When you focus on this area of your body.
And let it drop just slightly.
Part your lips a little bit.
And let a soft exhale come through the mouth.
Just let something out breathe something out while releasing your jaw slightly and stay with this for a few more rounds in your own pace.
Continuing on with your hands.
Focus on your hands for a moment.
These hands that have been doing all day.
Typing,
Carrying,
Giving,
Holding.
.
.
Turn these palms up if you can and let them open.
And see if you can sense the air against your palms the air that is touching the outermost surface of your skin here.
And perhaps you become aware of the coolness of this air.
Just see what arises.
When you focus on this area of your body.
You've given a lot today.
But right now,
Just receive.
Moving on to your belly.
The place between doing and being.
And notice your breath while focusing on your belly.
While breathing naturally,
Let your belly expand on the inhale.
Soft and full.
And release it on the exhale.
The breath as a tide moving through you.
In and out.
In and out Just stay here for a moment.
Indulging.
In this breath.
In this expansion and contraction moving on to your feet.
Perhaps you can press them gently into the floor.
Feel that contact.
That steady point where you meet the Earth.
These feet carried you through the whole day.
Let them be heavy now.
Let them be still.
You are home.
This body is not a machine that switches off.
It is a living landscape that transitions.
Like the field at dusk.
Slowly releasing the heat of what it held.
Is there anywhere in your body now?
Where you can feel this release.
Perhaps a softening somewhere.
Even the tiniest thing.
You don't have to arrive anywhere else tonight.
You're already here.
If your mind drifts to tomorrow,
To the list.
To the things you might have forgotten.
Just notice that.
And then slowly come back to your breath.
Your breath is always in the now.
And if something surfaces,
Tiredness,
Relief.
Perhaps an emotion that was held since this morning.
Just let it be here.
The day is done.
It can lend up.
Bring one hand to your heart.
Feel the warmth there.
The beads beneath your palms.
The day asked a lot of you and you showed up.
May your next breath be the softest one you've taken since this morning.
May this evening be yours.
When you're ready.
Let your eyes open gently.
Take a slow look around the room.
And just take in the shapes and the colors that you might see.
Come back softly.
There's no rush.
The day is complete.
Thank you for being here with me this evening.
